I got my ears pierced when I was 20 and didn’t have a good experience. I dealt with multiple infections and had issues for months. I made the decision to pierce Hailey’s ears as a baby, not for “cuteness”, but to prevent infection, and pain. If Hailey grows up and decides she doesn’t want earrings, she can take them out. If Hailey grows up and wants to experience getting her ears pierced, she can get a second piercing. There a pros and cons to waiting and piercing as a baby. After researching and taking into account my personal experience, we made the decision to pierce Hailey’s ears now. If you disagree, you’re allowed to. I respect everyone’s decision and believe each parent is responsible for that decision. There are a lot of things we may give our children that they never “consent” for (shots, medicine, food, clothes, bracelets, sunglasses, hats, etc…) What you do or give your children is up to you. We’re raising Hailey the best we can and we love her more than anything! - Katie ❤
Hey, I am in my 30s and my parents made the decision to pierce my ears when I was a baby (just after I turned 1) and I am so glad they did! I would have been to chicken to get them done when I was older. Also since my mom cared for them and made sure they healed 100% I can go years without putting earrings in and they never close up. Honestly if/when I have a daughter I will probably pierce them young because it was such a good experience for me. (Mom reports that I barely cried for mine)

All of the Bates girls are beautiful, but there is just something about Addallee's smile that always touches my heart. That's great that she was able to come hang out with you guys for the week. Looks like the week was lots of fun for all of you.

Your baby but my opinion is let them decide on these things when she’s old enough to know if she wants her ears pierced or not.
I'm personally not a fan of piercing a baby's ears but so glad you went to a proper piercer that used a needle instead of going to Claire's who use guns!

Beauty and appearance are stressed far too much, these Bates girls have made it their new life style, after being repressed by their parents. Now they go so far the other way. Find a happy medium, physical beauty is fine, but the obsession and standards our poor daughters have to live up to in this day and age is scary and wrong. There is much to be said in not making them grow up to soon, otherwise there is nothing for them to look forward to or to learn patience for.

Bottom line, it’s your child and your decision. My Mom taught me this if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all! We as a society need to get back to following that rule. Hailey is beautiful and her earrings are adorable.
The fact that they circumcise boys right after birth is way worse then piercing a baby’s ears 🙄 some people are ridiculous.
Some people are ridiculous getting their babies ear pierced. That age she can still get an infection.

Youre rigt she can make the decision her self when shes older ..the same as regards to music ..religion. lifestyle .as a parent you make the decisions on how you feel till they are old enough to understand their own decisions.
It is interesting though what ppl will research and NOT research 😒..and ppl are giving her grief for a baby with pierced ears, its no different than getting the needle at the dr(that everyone praises) that is MORE detrimental than a needle through the ear but nobody thinks of that lol

My daughters all got their ears pierced at 8 weeks old.👶🏽They are in their 30's & 40's now so they survived‼️‼️‼️LOL Its so true that its harder on the moms than the baby🫣 LOL. Thankfully it QUICK‼️

Wow these people on TH-cam trip me out. Do what you please with your child, that's their child and then say young parents so funny... I became a parent at 30 and now with 2 daughters they had their ears done at 7 months old. Every female in my family has earrings so why wouldn't they. No need to explain anything Travis and Katie these people don't do nothing for your family. So bump their opinions and their smart rump mouth don't watch them if you feel like that!! 💯

I’m not a fan of piercing my babies ears, I loved watching my daughter get excited to get them when she was 8. But I would never shame y’all, to each their own and y’all are great!

I had my daughter’s ears pierced at 6 months and never regretted a second. She did fabulous and 29 years later has never had a problem. She never played or messed with them like some children do! You are the parents!!!
Your babies are the same size. Lol. I’m always glad when Katie’s family can come to town. I love that Adalee and Hailey are birthday buddies. I love Curly Fries. That brings back so many memories. It makes me miss the Jersey Shore.

I grew up in a strict family and after moving out and away I finally made a decision and got my ears pierced and I am 28 the first time I had some issues regarding my time getting them done and I had to take then out and waited until I was ready again and then I got them to repierced and so far no issues..
Ocean City is a great place for families. Don't forget the soft custard next time.

I wanted to have my daughter’s ears pierced but she has messed with her ears since birth which 😢scared me too much to get it done. I would think she would have yanked them out. I would have like it since it was technically traditional for my family and she is my first girl. 😅
It's easier when they are babies. When they are older, they want to touch then and they don't want mom or dad touching them to care for them. Babies don't realize what your doing so it's easier to care for them.
Not when they are old enough to make the decision and clean themselves.

When I read your story on the ear piercing I couldn't believe the nerve of people. Unless someone does something dangerous for their child no one has a right to tell you what you do. You guys are great parents and is adorable.
Piercing a baby’s ears IS dangerous.there is a huge risk of them ripping them out or pulling them out and swallowing them,anything could happen.
Addallee's smile just lights up the world!! The one question I have about the ear piercing is the size of the earring post....is it shorter so that when she is lying on her side the post isn't poking her head? I know myself personally can't sleep with earrings in because the post pokes my head. So just wondering. Hailey is so beautiful just like her parents. Often times piercing children's ears are a cultural and or religious event. Katie and Travis are the most protective parents so they have done their research! Enjoy your beautiful baby!!!

Had my done early and if I had a daughter I would definitely do hers early as well. I think babies with earrings are super cute.

The earnings you picked out are adorable. That place sounds amazing. My sister was going to wait until her daughter' was 5 to get her ears pierced. When my niece was 3, my sister walked into her bathroom, her daughter was trying to put an earring in her ear. My sister took her a couple of days later. She liked them so much that down the road, she went back for a second hole.
Getting ears pierced with a needle is so much better than with a gun. Good call Mom and Dad.❤

Its different for each parent, i wanted to have our daughter's ears done when she was about 6 months old, my husband wanted to wait until she could tell us that she wanted it done. So I agreed agreed to his thoughts and she got them done at 4 yrs old . Now she has has multiple piercings on her ears. Nothing outrageous.

Hopefully the piercing works,my system didn't like it and I tried 5 times and every time they got infected, and even now if I think about doing it again, they will get infected when nothing is even done.
Have you tried wearing nickel free stainless steel earrings? These are the only kind one of my daughters can wear.
In the 80s it was routine to have your ears as a baby. My two sisters and I had them done at the family doctor as well as my cousins. I remember almost all the girls in elementary school had them done. I don't remember it and our ears did fine. If i had a little girl i would do it as a baby. I did my second and third holes and 3 cartilage piercing myself at home in high school. Actually came out straight and I cleaned them regularly and never had a problem. Its is a parents choice. Heck if you can let your kid become the opposite sex then i see nothing wrong with having a babys ears pierced. I loved getting different earrings as a little girl that i got ro pick out.

My daughters pediatrician talked me into piercing my daughters ear when she was 14 months. She said the younger the easier they heal. She pierced them in her office. I got my youngest pierced at 3 months and they did better! 😊
