    Useful vid man, ngl got a bit of Ali Abdaal vibes. Maybe the glasses? Maybe my sleepiness? Anyway, would you say 687.5 is a high or medium score?

      Hey, glad the video was useful! Haha It's not the first time I've been called Ali abdaal, I think it's the glasses 😂 One day Ali abdaal will be telling people he's not Devify! I think your score is definitely above average and I would say it's a relatively high score! I think you're safe to apply to most medical schools with that score.

      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sara D hey, thanks for watching and glad I could help! I would definitely still apply to medical schools! It depends on how your GCSEs are. If they are very high, I would consider Cardiff and Queens university Belfast. If not then I think the best option would probably be to go all in for the bmat and apply to 4 bmat universities. It's a big risk but if you really want to study medicine it's a risk worth taking! Make sure you don't lose hope save try your best! (This is obviously my take on it and I might be wrong. Hope this helps!)

    Heyyy, I achieved 617.5 average in my UCAT and Band 2 in SJT. I feel like my score wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t great either. My GCSEs were 9,8,8,7,7,7,6,6,5,5 and I’m predicted A,A,A,A. I’m thinking of applying to QMUL, Liverpool, Keele and Hull York. Do you think my choices are okay and are there any other unis you think I should consider? Thank you 🥰

    • @DoctorDevify
      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey! So I looked into QMUL and they go 50/50 on ucat and ucas tariff. They don't look at anyone below the 3rd decile which in 2019 was 612.5 (617.5 is really close to that and if 2020s results are slightly higher its a straight rejecion). Also, check this out www.qmul.ac.uk/smd/undergraduate/courses/admissions-statistics-for-medicine--dentistry/ defo look at that as they give examples of what a high, mid and low randge candidate would be. basically they give examples of what you need to get so with your ucat score of 2470 you would need a ucas tariff of roughly like 250 for a mid range score (On average). AAAA gives a tariff of about 192. heres a tariff calculator www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator . so i personally wouldn't consider QMUL. For liverpool you need 15/18 points for gcses and I think yours works out to 14. I think Keele is a good place to look at. I'm not too sure about hull york, they seem to go 30% academics, 40% ucat, 15% sjt, 15% contextual data. so ucat makes up a bulk of it and i found that the average in 2018 was about 680 so i think you should research a bit more into that. I think you should look into kent and medway, plymouth, sunderland, maybe aston (i havent had time to research this one much) and also i would highly recommend you to look into BMAT too! Hope this helps and sorry for the late response.

  • @aruthymahalingam

    I’m a private candidate and taking a level biology, chemistry and maths. I didn’t get the time to do ucat in 2020 for 2021 medicine entry application. So I am going to take the A2 exams in bio, chem and maths in may/June 2021 time and practicals in Jan 2021.
    Would I need UCAT admission test if I’m applying with achieved results for 2022 entry medicine - so say I get AAA or more would I need to get UCAT admission test as I would be applying with achieved results.
    Also, is there clearing for medicine at any of the UK universities?

    • @DoctorDevify
      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, yes you would still need the ucat for the ucat universities even if you have achieved results. It depends on the year but yes some medical schools do end up on clearing! Good luck!

    Hia! Sorry if you've already answered this but do you think an A level prediction of A*A*A and a UCAT of 2480 is enough to get into the Dentistry course in QMUL?

    • @DoctorDevify
      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Basically all my research was conducted for medical schools. Dental schools have completely different requirements and the schools may use the different parts of the application differently. At the moment, I don't feel confident to give advice on dental schools. Sorry!

      @@rabiahussain1842 hey, have a look at this. it gives a good idea of what applicants are expected to achieve. www.qmul.ac.uk/smd/undergraduate/courses/admissions-statistics-for-medicine--dentistry/ QMUL is a weird one because A*A*A is insanely good but they go by ucas tariff and would prefer something like AAAA more as it gives more points. from that website they would probably want an accompanying ucat score of 2700ish i think

      Hmm, I think it depends on your GCSEs, if they were really good you can look at Cardiff and Queens university belfast. Keele and Sunderland may be ok too but you're quite close to their cut off and could be above or below depending on how the rest of the ucat applicants do. I would personally start considering bmat universities too. Perhaps apply to 2 bmat and 2 ucat? (This is my opinion though)

      looking at old deciles at www.ucat.ac.uk/media/1415/ucat-test-statistics-2016_2019.pdf it looks like they vary from 605 to 620 from 2016 to 2019 so i would expect 2020 to hover around the 605 mark too and if anything it could be higher due to people being in a more comfortable environment at home this year whilst taking the exam. Therefore, I would probably avoid it personally. Hope this helps :)

  • @ronanjensen4570
    @ronanjensen4570 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you get a low UCAT score, there is a main option available to you. There are some universities that do not focus heavily on your UCAT score, but put more weighting on your academics and Personal Statement. Some universities are relatively new & less competitive are also an option for you. But, if you want to obtain high UCAT score, my suggestion goes with iCanMed UCAT preparation courses. They helped to get high UCAT score and got admission in one of the top universities in the UK.

    • @DoctorDevify
      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm seems like I didn't look into Aberdeen much but the medic portal summarises both these universities' requirements really well! www.themedicportal.com/blog/where-to-apply-with-a-good-ucat-score-part-three/ for Aberdeen the minimum ucat score they interviewed seems to hover around 590-620 so I guess you can have a chance there if the rest of your application is amazing. But it definitely needs more research! Dundee seems to be 40% ucat which is too much contribution for it to be ok to apply with a "low" ucat in my opinion. Sorry for the late response, hope it helps!

Hope its not too much trouble. Thanks :)

    • @DoctorDevify
      @DoctorDevify  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, not to worry! I had a look and it seems that Plymouth is ok, you want to avoid UEA because they rank you based on ucat. Aston seems to go 2/3 GCSE and 1/3 ucat and then they rank you so I would do a bit more research for that on what the average students ucat score was. You can also look at Keele and Sunderland too. But I would start to consider bmat universities for sure
