@scalermusic Can those multilanes be routed to multiple tracks in your daw? Say, for instance, phrases routed to midi ch 1 bass midi channel 2 phrases channel 3, etc. Also on each lane can you use different phrases (3 different phrases on one lane), etc, on the same lane for switch ups?
So cool! Just in time for my new 88 key Arturia midi controller from Christmas! Thank you JC, thank you Plugin Boutique. I love that there is a company out there that shares equal enthusiasm for the products they sell as much as the customers who buy and use them. Rock ON!
FINALLY....My prayers have been answered...The in-app multi-lane arrangement and sequencer, comprehensive mood-based tag search, and more possibilities for less typical progressions is why I'm stoked. I just hope the modulation workflow as well as the drag-to-DAW function is even more intuitive. Wish it was out NOW.
Scaler is an amazing music software! The features on three, as you described, are genius! My hat's off to Dave and all his team for inventing, refining, and surprising with a tool that aids in music and song creations for the multitudes! Truly brilliant!
Imagine charging those loyal to Scaler since the beginning ... nice. I won't be bothering with Scaler again. Charge those who haven't been loyal like those who have upgraded in the last year, but to charge those of us who have upgraded 1 and 2 ... nah, I'm done!
natureseyemusic totally your right to do so. But the work that goes on behind the scene... It's great product that is competitively priced already. I don't think it's unfair to expect to pay for major revisions. Some companies don't even have an update path. You just pay through the nose each time. Even now I can see ok Plugin Boutique that you can go from Scaler 1 to 2 for £29 and then get a free update to 3! Bargain I would say. But each to their own. I am interested in the price from 2 to 3 as I use version 2 (since it came out). I mean not many companies use the FL Studio updates for life model. Which I love by the way. But the Scaler team have always been generous with each minor revision. I don't think it's asking too much to pay not very large amounts of money for major revisions.
@@fukyutube2279 I totally agree, the same people who complain about Scaler think nothing about spending money on other unnecessary rubbish, like overpriced fast food and coffee.
I love using Scaler 2. I do wish they would add some of the features that Chordimist has. With Chordimist, you can add things like portamento and can add vibrato to chords. The drawback with Chordimist is that it can only be used with Ableton.
Will we get interplugin communication where we can for example change the scale of all plugins in one interface so midi notes are all fitted within that scale on all midi lanes?
I'm very excited for Scaler 3. I love Scaler 2 and use it all the time, but it definitely needs these GUI updates. My request is that when they inevitably bring these updates to iOS, that they allow Scaler 3 to run on iPhone in addition to iPad. I would love to work on ideas on the go with just my phone.
When they share RI presets, other users can access them and an endless midi bank can be created, and maybe users can sell their own presets etc..I hope it will be a much more universal and more content-based update. I would love to have a software that is not only an expert in chords, but also a fully powerful software in bassline and relative harmonic movements.
Cool bananas!!! I've had Scala since the early days, but not used much in the last year. Helped me learn a lot of music theory. 😊Looks like time to dust off the VST and revisit.
8:20 "Look how clean that is." LOL. In other words, look how FLAT it looks. Remember the good old days, of Windows 7, when user interface design had peaked, everything was obvious, buttons were beautiful 3D, and you could INSTANTLY see which parts of an interface were clickable, and which were just titles, etc.? We can't have that! It's so 'old' and apparently, 'dirty' (i.e. not 'clean). And so many idiots nowadays actually pretend to LIKE difficult to use interfaces. The new keyboard looks like rubbish, zero effort has gone into it, but then, at least it's "clean", which means "flat", and is apparently 'good', with no explanation ever given. It's so GREY and dull and lifeless and ugly. Oh look - monochrome, drab icons! How incredibly original! Why not just make the entire interface dark grey, with nothing visible at all, and then when you mouseover different parts of the screen, they are illuminated by a virtual 'torch' about 100 pixels in diameter. That would be so CLEAN, right?
I mean, I like how it looks. "Flat" and "dull" can also be "simple" and "focused". The layout even looks more organized and easier to read than Scaler 2 to me. That said, Scaler 2 also has themes - so you can probably just swap to a matching theme or some other high-contrast option in Scaler 3.
I wish they could have done this whole thing in the first version because now I feel like it took three versions (and purchases) to deliver what they should have in the first place.
I am not computer savvy and I've had Scaler 2 since it first came out. I see that I have the different zip files on my computer from the older versions of Scaler and my question is, can I delete those older zip files that were updates or delete Scaler 2 entirely when I buy Scaler 3 without it causing any issues ?
I think that model is what it is. I worked with Scaler 1 the same.... When I heard Scaler 2 I just bought 1 at the right time to get 2 for free. They have to draw a line somewhere! It's not the Image Line Model.... I don't think it's out of the norm for a company to charge for major updates. In fact I feel they are quite fair and generous with their dot revisions. When it goes from 2 to 3 I'm happy they even bother giving an upgrade price rather than forcing you to buy the thing at full price (which isn't even much for what you get) like other companies do.
No sadly Ableton doesn't support multi midi output from a single channel - New versions such as 12 are built upon the same architecture as previous versions to 9, and it's 100% an issue - Only workaround is Bluecat's Patchwork, kinda clunky but it does work well once you set it up and save it for future use
@@KozmykJ it does say that but when you click on it, you'll see the complete message that the upgrade's free come March 25 when bought now (or after January 15) this means us old Scaler owners get a special upgrade price--- not free but an upgrade price. buy scaler 2 you get scaler 3 for free. And scaler 2 users need to pay for an upgrade? This is not fair at all. You see you can not give Scaler 3 cheaper for newcomers while oldtime users need to pay again.
@spaceiswater6539 yes... but not at cost existing users that paid so you can develope. I do not want scaler for free! I'm perfectly fine to pay upgrades (having paid myself thousands to plugs) i think the policy to let pay existing users for development while giving new users pracically the update for free is ilicit and can backfire in the sense that many may not agree or move to another plug. I think we should be treated equally.. if you want to give a discount... give it to us all! not just to new users. Thanks
It's a super common practice that if you buy a software after the new version is announced you get it for free otherwise you pay a fee to upgrade to the latest version
Anyone buying V2 now is essentially buying V3 with a bit of a wait. They have to draw a line somewhere! I love what they give in all the small updates. I personally am happy to give them the small amount they ask for because their ethos is amazing. Ok. They aren't Image Line. But who is. 😂
So, those of us who have been loyal to scaler since the beginning will be penalised and made to pay, yet those who rock up now will get it free. So, all the times I have promoted Scaler 1 and 2 to others and encouraged them to purchase it is worth nothing. Thanks a bunch. Boom, there goes my loyalty to Scaler then. I'll not be bothering. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.
What's this logic? You can get an update from 1 to 2 for £29 on Plugin Boutique already. Which then updates to 3 for free. So you can go from V1 to V3 for less than thirty quid! What's the issue? What have I missed? They seem to care more than other companies for the work they put in (although no one does it like Image Line!)
You install Scaler 2.9.1 and the preferences window that pops up has the smallest fonts in the world, (on my 4K 43" screen, which every other program's fonts look fine on) - how cutting edge! How brave! Lovely use of dark grey text on a dark grey background! No consideration whatsoever for people who might have poor eyesight. Not very 'virtue signalling' of them, was it...
PLEASE DON'T FORGET "DRAG MIDI OUT TO DAW" FUNCTION
