There are many people that take Farmers for granted, not realizing how crucially important Farmers are and how crop failures can sometimes devastate small and large acreage Farmers. I deeply appreciate and never take for granted what Farmers like yourself are doing to keep food on my table. Thank You.
I worked for a custom cutter in the summer of '66 as we worked the harvest northward. I was 15. Two of the cutter's sons, a couple of ex-cons who showed up at harvest time every year, and me. We drove the combines (Massey-Ferguson Super 92). No air conditioned cabs. It was hard, dirty, itchy work. I made $1 an hour. The cutter's wife and daughters would cook, set up the tables and feed us lunch every day. That was the high point of the day. Best dam food I ever ate. Drove us crazy as we circled the fields watching them set up for lunch. Ate in shifts since the combines never stopped until it was too dark to cut. Best summer ever.
josh wagner, how does that pathological liar help, he hasn’t done a hard days work in his life. I’m 4th generation farmer and have no respect for that moron.
That is how I was raised. Driving a truck to the field at 12 years old. Running a tractor or Combine by 13 years old. It was hard work, but priceless at the same time.

To: Texas Country Reporter & The Davis Family Farmers, (Thanks for your Sharing & Posting Your Video) I hope and pray your Children Stay on The Farm. But, should they not stay. I'm an old Cowboy, who loves Riding Horses. And wouldn't mind helping y'all. I Love and Miss "The Old & Simple Hard Life of Farming." To your young ones, I'd say, take it from someone who has lived on Farms, and went to work in The Cities of America. "You ain't Missing Nothing." And "Take your shoes Off, you All come back now, hear." I remember, when I worked at Sylvan Grove, Kansas, for The Meyer Family. When it was Wheat Harvest Time, we'd be out harvesting wheat for 15 to 17 hours Straight. I might be 60 years old but I miss Farming. Words of Wisdom: "Your not Sitting down, your not being LAZY, YOUR doing something...(doing Nothing=playing X-Box or Play Station) your doing Something... Build Character." Stupid Question by Reporter. "Is that Important?" Hell Yeah, that's Important. (That is what is wrong, with this Country, most Children are too dependent on their Government to take care of them. They want everything "Given to them" nobody wants to WORK FOR IT Anymore) "If you don't have Character, you can't get too far in Life." Smart Young man.
It blesses my heart to see you all work together as a farm family, especially the younger ones, as I did when I was young and worked the farm!!!! GOD BLESS AND KEEP EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!!!!
Thanks Davis Family! I LOVE farmers. We need to do more for OUR farmers in America. As a kid in Texas and later in Robins Illinois, I worked on a farm - well, played on a farm. It was fun, especially when I was a kid. I loved all of the animals and doing chores, most of the time. LOL. Of course, it's ALL WORK, sun p to sun down for farmers. Gold Bless them!
I love it. I grew up farming from an early age, unfortunately not my own land, but now at 54, understand and appreciate the life teachings it gave me. Keep these kids going in the right path. Wonderful family.
Thank you so much for continuing to bring us stories like this. Just good ole American families doing what made this country great. With values that come from hard work, learning and family love. I always look forward to seeing what you will bring us next.
Without farmers like this strong family, we wouldnt have a plate on our table unless you do it all yourself. Thank you Texas Farmers! Beautiful Strong Family and very Respectful when spoken with. \m/ HOOK 'UM HORNS \m/

Thanks for an outstaanding video; a lot of memories came back as I watch this video. I was raised on a farm in the early 50's to the middle 50's; didn't have any of this fnacy equipment. I sat on a ford tractor many an hour and before the tractor I plowed many an acre with a team of mules. one thing for sure I didn't have to worry about being over weight. Love ever minute of it.
Yes SIR? What a beautiful thing to hear. I've being saying that yes SIR no sir, yes ma'am no ma'am every time I answer anyone. Farmers are the backbone of our great country. Neal
Just imagine that 100 years ago when those families would have pulled together to bring in the crops - how little they would have yielded by comparison ... but I suppose that its all relative ... As always, thanks so much for sharing another inspiring and admirable story of one families life in Texas. TCR you are amazing !
100 years ago or so over 80% of the population in this country was employed on farm land to feed 1/3 of the people we have now... these days it might be 1 or 2% of the people employed on the farm land to feed more that triple the population from 1916... things have changed pretty seriously..

You have to love this. The entire family, from parents to children, are SOLID, and are well brought up with a good work ethic. To give young children this sort of responsibility early on will carry them well through life. I used to let a ( supervised ) friend's child help mow my lawn. He was only 8, and messed it up. Couldn't even mow a straight line. I couldn't care less. He was so proud to have me trust him, and hand him the responsibility of handling a simple lawn mower it made my heart, and his, swell with pride. HIs Mother would have died a death if she'd known I did that. Contrast this with so many people in America who drop out of school, won't seek jobs, are afraid to work hard and honestly, are lazy, and who always seek easy ways out of earning money.
