    The lighter strings on the Epiphone reduce the bottom end for sure. I purchased one several weeks ago it was fitted with 0012 to 0053s which I found a bit hard on the fingers as I've been playing electrics for a while set up with 009s so I put 0010s on the Hummingbird.This was only a temporary measure until my callouses hardened and left hand becomes stronger which is the case and I'll be fitting a set of 0011s which I have waiting on the sidelines. Eventually I'll fit some 0012-0053s.. Experience has taught me that patience wins in the end, I'm 69 and it's good to have something to look forward to.

    There are some wonderful entry and mid-priced Taylors. I started playing a year and a half ago, and practice an average of 2 hours a day, every day. For the first 6 months I played a $300 Fender dreadnought with a solid spruce top, that was good enough to make me realize I really wanted to keep playing, but after a while I came to realize that the sound was both limited and limiting. So I bought a $1,000 Taylor K214c, with a solid top and composite Koa sides. I really, really recommend that guitar for anyone who is at a comparable point on the learning curve. It is super easy to fret, has wonderful tone and sustain, and is a fantastic quality/price ratio. I feel that I am improving rapidly but it will be YEARS before I outgrow my Taylor - it’s just a great guitar. I just change the strings every 6 weeks or so, and that more than anything keeps it ringing beautifully.

    Keep the Taylor at the house for recording and take the Epiphone out for the gigs.

    Hello,
    I have bought Epiphone AJ 220sce guitar , it's just a weak old and it has company fitted strings, this guitar has very sharp and bright sound when plugged off, but I m crazy for warm and groovy sounds of guitar
    So plz advice is there any way to make my guitar sound as warm as I want it to sound? changing the strings can do ?
    Thanks in advance

    I would definitely recommend the Epiphone for a newer guitarist who wants an acoustic with a professional sound! I love mine a ton, and if you can find one for a good price, get it! You won’t regret it.

    Taylor’s are incredible. To me there’s no comparison. The epiphone doesn’t sound bad though.

    • @TonyBurke100
      @TonyBurke100 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree but we must remember that the Epiphone has 0010s on it and the fuller sound of the Taylor can probably be attributed to the 0012s fitted to it.

    I have an Epi Hummingbird, and a big bucks Maton ECW80C, both with pro setups done, and I will go for the Epi just about every time. Great tone and playability, and the build quality/ finish is superb for the price. The only thing I don't like about the Epiphone is the narrower nut width, with 1 5/8" as compared to 1 3/4" on the genuine article, but that's only because of my sausage like fingers.

    • @johnhulsker1453
      @johnhulsker1453 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've played a Gibson J 50 for fifty years and recently got the Epiphone Dove, great guitar but yeah the narrow nut with thick carpenter's fingers is challenging, I use a capo at the second fret a lot. However, I also just bought a cheap mandolin, so that's a narrow neck on another level!

      I really don't know the models of all Taylors in the world, there are so many, you you'll have to do your research I'm afraid. The reason I picked a Taylor was for very specific reasons for me and my playing. Forget brands, try to find something that works for you within your budget.

    I can easily hear the difference online. I bought one of those 200 Epiphone models 30-years ago at a local guitar store that is no more. The Epi is playable, but I've never seen one that had a good sound. Mine is just something to pick up and play when alone. No string change or adjustment makes any difference... it's just a no-sounding guitar.
