Everyone saying they dont like ABBA doesn't listen because it is, on the surface, too soft for some I think. But if you listen like a producer/musician and dont care for superficial things like image or identity then a world of joy opens up. Their music is so sophisticated and original. The more you hear it the better it will become. (even after decades...)
This is an ABBA classic for all December/January dates A beautiful song with a soft melody at the beginning, a melancholic lyrics with the beautiful and very sweet interpretation of the blonde Agnetha, a brilliant chorus with Frida (especially the power of her second voice in the second and third stanza) and a catchy chorus with the melody that grows and falls in love All the ingredients of ABBA The lyrics are so emotional, contrast with an very catchy chorus It's no funny, it's melancolich, but have a message of hope "Happy New Year" is a great song from the 1980 album "Super Trouper" (which includes the homonymous song and "The winner takes it all" among others) It has a version in Spanish: "Felicidad" which was a hit here in my country Best wishes to you with good music My best regards from Argentina
Thanks for the ABBA. It was their hope for the new decade. The world was pretty scary back then. I'm sure in Sweden being that close to the USSR it was even more so. I love the way Agnetha can take an extra long lyric line and just shove it all in. She has to do that on a few of their songs.
That's right! Tell your friend he's probably only heard Dancing Queen or Mamma Mia like most have :) This song was released in 1980 and was recorded in video director Lasse Halmströms own appartment.
I like your ABBA reactions!!! keep it going. Angel Eyes, If it Wasn't for the Nights, When All is Said and Done, The Visitors, The Day Before you Came, Under Attack.
The A-Teens were a Swedish cover group made up of teen singer/dancers. I've watched a number of their videos, and, well, if you can't say something nice, you know. As for Abba needing research to appreciate, I don't know. To me, the songs are pretty straightforward if you pay attention. The more you listen to the songs, you realize that a lot of them have a dark side that makes them a little different from a lot of the songs the DJs were playing alongside them in the discos. The beat in a lot of the songs made them blend in with the other dance songs, but listening paid off.
The answers in the song ...the A teen we’re a group orf 4 teenagers 2 boys 2 girls they were given 15 songs by ABBA which they had fair success with then they released a lot more of there own content which was great like I promise my self and half way around the world....
Yeah, they're trying to be optimistic. They knew you had to maintain at least a little hope, however fleeting, but Agnetha's face and that closing tableau looking out the window on a bleak, grey dawn pretty sums it up.
There is an entire verse missing, the second. After the first chorus, the video jumps directly to the third verse. Where is the second? It is the gist of the entire song, showing that the song is, in fact, a combination of worries expressed in the verses, and hopes for a better tomorrow, expressed in the choruses.
Yes #FortWorthFabian where is the 2nd verse? Sometimes I see How the brave new world arrives And I see how it thrives In the ashes of our lives Oh yes, man is a fool And he thinks he'll be okay Dragging on, feet of clay Never knowing he's astray Keeps on going anyway...
But they were very popular among teenagers, and some of them became curious enough to look up the originals. ABBA got fans from a new generation! Edit: A-Teens was a group with 4 young singers, who made ABBA covers.
Dude I’ve noticed you’ve pretty much stopped reacting - we just see you watching the video and you ask a couple of questions and maybe make a comment, but there’s no sense of what you thought of the song anymore. Did you like the vocals, like the song etc etc?
you skipped the entire second verse~! if you know ABBA songs, you know that the crux of many of their songs comes through in the second verse. This song is absolutely no exception, and misses half the point without it ~!
They were ok. Sure, they danced like fools on stage (just like Britney Spears and all the other younsters), but the tunes themselves were pretty good covers, musically speaking.
@@Urfinchannel I always thought it was Bjorn. But someone told me it was Lasse Hallström'. Since I had no facts to support it was Bjorn I surrendered. I now using your post to support my initial claim it was Bjorn. THANKS!
We party when we party do we need a reason? 🎈 🥳 🎉 🪅 🎊 🍺 🍻 🎁 O.k I have to admit my teasing of you and the fact you have spent some of it freezing the bs off of a brass monkey 🐒 has turned to haunt me. It is so hot here 😫 now that you could boil a hundred bunnies in your backyard pool ( not that I would do such a stalker like thing) 😜 I don't know about that ABBA?WHAAAAAT Yep he be still lost in the new year beer, oh God yes I know I have wronged FABIAN but plse bring me a long cold icy drink 🍸 aaaaah 😋

It's a tradition for me to play this song every new year, and many more do.
But the song is too good to hear it just on New Years Day :-)

Jesus you are going deep. I truly love ”Happy New Year” Agnetha has never looked more beautiful than in this video
I literally post this song on my Facebook page every New Year's Eve. There's no song better for the occasion!
... in the end of 89
The world has changed dramatically. Especially in Europe, and definitely here in Germany...
AND 😢 ABBA didn’t exist at this time
It was released at the end of '79
That's right! Tell your friend he's probably only heard Dancing Queen or Mamma Mia like most have :) This song was released in 1980 and was recorded in video director Lasse Halmströms own appartment.
I love this song so much!
You helped me see ABBA in a whole new light as well and I’ve always been a admirer of the group.
I like your ABBA reactions!!! keep it going. Angel Eyes, If it Wasn't for the Nights, When All is Said and Done, The Visitors, The Day Before you Came, Under Attack.

Gorgeous record ♥
Their the second biggest group ever nd they truly are global.

ABBA released the 4K scans of some of the MVs.
I've always loved the optimism of this song. A perfect fit for the Super Trouper Album!
Yeah, they're trying to be optimistic. They knew you had to maintain at least a little hope, however fleeting, but Agnetha's face and that closing tableau looking out the window on a bleak, grey dawn pretty sums it up.
I had never heard this before...and I absolutely LOVE it. Thank you so much for this reaction!!! ❤
Greetings from Dublin Ireland ,
Did you know ABBA have recorded New music last year due to be released this year.
Abba rock.
Hard to believe that this is over 41 years old! Sheer genius!
There's not a lot of optimism here. It's a very sad, depressing kinda song.
React to next: Does Your Mother Know? Serious song, in a bright up-beat melody!
There is an entire verse missing, the second. After the first chorus, the video jumps directly to the third verse. Where is the second?

Yes #FortWorthFabian where is the 2nd verse?
Sometimes I see
How the brave new world arrives
And I see how it thrives
In the ashes of our lives
Oh yes, man is a fool
And he thinks he'll be okay
Dragging on, feet of clay
Never knowing he's astray
Keeps on going anyway...
in the end of '89 the iron curtain fell (and the communist era ended in eastern europe); that was a great prediction.
"A-Teens" was a project by a record company to maximize profit off ABBA songs
But they were very popular among teenagers, and some of them became curious enough to look up the originals. ABBA got fans from a new generation!
Edit: A-Teens was a group with 4 young singers, who made ABBA covers.
ABBA "The last vidéo". Funny one.
Check out ABBA - Does your Mother Know - Angel Eyes
Listen to The Piper (Abba) after reading about the meaning of it. XO 🇸🇪
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have noticed this also.
I have noticed this too. And others who do react spend most of the time responding to lyrics only.
try "andante, andante", man. (this hint will cost YOU ten bucks)
KFC 😀
you skipped the entire second verse~!

If you don't want to put your fist through your monitor DO NOT LISTEN TO ATEENS. You have been warned.
They were ok. Sure, they danced like fools on stage (just like Britney Spears and all the other younsters), but the tunes themselves were pretty good covers, musically speaking.
The A-teens are rippoffs of ABBA
It was neither Bjorn or Benny.
Sure it was Björn
