If you'd lower the cost, you'd have many more customers and help more of the population at the same time. The dental tourism industry is booming and rightfully so. Thanks to them, people wont have to suffer in pain due to outrageous dental /medical costs. If you care, the dental industry in America would lower the price for treatment. You know this.

I do agree that implants should be more affordable. They require surgery for placement. There is risk of failure and infection. Often times more than one surgery. Not everyone is candidate for implants either. My teeth were pulled at low income dental clinic six months ago. I have not had any teeth since March. I am eating fine. Wear mask in public. Is it embarrassing yes. It is manageable situation. Eventually I will order dentures online. Once I have the money

I love Puerto Rico, but I'm not sure it's the right place to get implants. I chose South Korea because they have their own technology and high-quality implants, and the cost is much cheaper. Two years ago, my sister paid less than $1,000 for everything, including tooth extraction, implant, and crown.

I have tori bone ---a large one on top, 2 smaller ones on the bottom. Every dentist I've seen has told me I would have to have surgery to be fitted with dentures. But, I'm wondering-----since the 4-on-one implants are horseshoe-shaped, would they work in a mouth like mine without having surgery?

The problem with doing implant surgery abroad is that its a treatment requiring multiple appointments over many months. Traveling back and forth to a local provider is a pain for the various steps. Going across the country, or even worse , around the world, hardly seems worth it.

Fortunately for me, I live in Southern Cal only 90 min from the border or 63 dollars away by bus,. I've had extensive work done in TJ and also India. In India I got ripped off from the Lab who substituted a different cheaper material but the dentist was good. However there was a failure and I couldn't fly back to get it redone, though they would have fixed it had I lived in the area. In TJ I can go back all the time if I need too. My mistake is I had my regular general Mexican dentist do my implants and didn't look for a specialist. So those have (kinda) failed however they are still in my mouth and I am still using them ok. They are individual teeth though, not all on four. Had these implants been all on four it would have been a much bigger problem because they would be impossible to clean under in that case and the denture would no longer fit right. My advice is go to a specialist for the implants.

Medical tourism is as good as it's ever been but healthcare delivery, including dental care, is tougher than it's ever been. For that reason it's more important than ever to have a clinician you trust and not a clinic. For example, in this example I'd go to see Dr. Choi if I needed a revision of an implant or an initial implant. I've done medical tourism for surgery and I'm quite happy with the result in Spain because I got to know the surgeon over several visits. For me it wasn't as much a cost issues though the same surgery would have been double in the US, it was more about trusting and liking the doctor. Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Turkey, these all have just as good a doctor as any other country but it's perhaps easier to have a few lower quality doctors escape under the radar. If you're shopping based on price alone you'll get a cheap procedure but you won't get value for your money. If you shop for the skill of the surgeon then you'll get value but it may not be that much cheaper than if you did it in the US.

    Alright.
It appears that the Zirconia is the most expensive part of the whole process. The pucks used to make an upper and lower arch range in cost between around $50-$600 depending on the brand, quality, etc. $600 tops
Say another $600 for the implants.
And you charge $50000 for 10h of your time, equipment, knowledge, overhead, sandries and PROFIT.
Try to reduce the profit bit, you will have more customers, you will pay less tax and you may encourage people not to travel abroad.

    • @mattbuergel8487

Not even close. It's not 10h of time. I don't see Dr Choi, so I have no dog in that fight. But I DID have 12 implants placed by another surgeon in Ohio. The initial surgery, yes was about 6 hours. But you go back many many times over the course of your treatment plan over 6-10 months to make adjustments and get new sets of implants, including the final set. ALL of that is included in the 50k price. It's not just the surgery or the implants. You are reducing a complex process into a simple equation.

I am so glad I didn't go the dental tourism route. I did have to travel to TX to see Dr. Choi when I had complications, but its just a 3 hour flight. However, it still costs me $800 every time I go (flights, hotel, uber, etc.). I cannot imagine how much I would have to spend if I had my teeth done in another country, how stressful it would be and how long I would have to take off work. And when I don't work - I don't make money. So add that into the cost of your trip if you're like me. My coworker went to Cancun to have his gums worked on, and something went wrong, I don't know the details, but he was forced to stay there for a week longer. Which means he missed work (= lost income), spent way more than anticipated, and his family had to change their whole routine since he was gone (baby sitting, his wife taking time off work, etc.) And now, due to liability concerns, he has to continue going there to get the long process done and over with. It's a long time commitment, folks. Don't be cheap, be smart.

I'm getting work done in Costa Rica by Nova Dental. So far I only got a sinus lift and 3 implants placed. After 6 months have passed I will be going back for 3 more implants and to get the crowns put on for the first 3 implants. After that I'll go back a 3rd time in about 4 months to get the final crowns placed. During my first visit they also took care of my cavities and did a root canal and cleaning. I got to see an implantologist, endodontist and prosthodontist in 3 days to take of the various work. In the US it would take weeks or months and cost 2-3x as much depending on if you have insurance. Time will tell how the work comes out but so far the Dr. did an amazing job with the sinus lift and the implants seem good. They are Zimmer implants and the Dr. studied at NYU. I feel like if you do your research and have the ability to travel multiple times it's not a bad option if you need lots of work.
