    My brother in Tennessee has one, and the Smokey Mtns rides are very similar to what I'm seeing here. Sufficient power for anything legal, cruiser comfort riding position, awesome design, and quiet enough it sneaks through neighborhoods at night and past cops in the daytime.

      @@xtman693 Just was reviewing my typo. That was meant to say 'you' not 'toy'. But hey, these are our man toys right. You ever pondered throwing snow tires on any bikes so as you could still slip a ride in here or there?

    Awesome videos! I just discovered your channel last week and loved your Wyoming video and this one.
    I just bought an S50 yesterday after watching your video and I love the bike.
    Could you make a video just on your gear and modifications for the bike? Maybe saddle bags, wind shield, bags, etc? If you could include links that would be amazing too.
    You seem to really know what you’re doing!

    • @xtman693
      @xtman693  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind words and congrats on your S50! Your going to love it. It is a really fun machine.
      The bags came with the bike but I’ll check and see who made them. I’ll send you a link to the windshield too. It was kind of a generic one but it works great. I’m planning on another trip into Wyoming this spring that will be longer and more miles.
      I bought the Butler “Wyoming map” which is designed for motorcyclists and has all the roads that aren’t on some of the atlases.
      Again thanks for watching! My video skills are amateur but I love getting comments from other riders. Makes it worth while.
      Enjoy that bike and ride safe!

    It's a hot rod, the lettering on the tires blends in nicely with the hot rod. Riding is a stress relaxer, everything that bothered you is now relieved. Peace.

      Thanks for watching! Growing up as a seventies kid the hot rods all had the white lettering on the wheels. There’s no better stress relief than a good ride! Riding weather here in the mountains of CO is right around the corner and I’m dying inside. Can’t wait.

    I have owned my 2007 s50 for a year now great bike I have the carbs in sync and she's a beauty. Do you recommend jetting these bikes?

    • @xtman693
      @xtman693  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello thanks for watching!!
      The S50 is really a great under rated machine I think.
      As far as jetting goes if you are running stock pipes (baffles still intact) and below 5000 feet then your probably ok.
      If you have that nice chocolate brown color on your spark plugs your good to go.
      Mine had the exhaust baffles removed by the previous owner and it was weirdly running rich. Plugs were black with soot. I was also getting serious backfires on deceleration.
      I was able to compensate for it with just the mixture screw on the side of each carb. I leaned out the mixture enough that the backfire for the most part went away. My plugs are still darker than they should be but the backfire is gone.
      I ordered some used pipes on eBay pretty cheap and I’m going to install them this spring in hopes of getting it back to normal. They are a bit rusty but if they work well I’ll order a new set.
      A new set is about $500.00 so I wanted to make sure it was going to make a difference before spending a lot of money.
      Enjoy the bike!!! I am dying waiting for spring to arrive. Bike is just sitting in my garage off to the side with a cover on it.
      I look at it everyday!!

    I love the bike, it's a classic, it has style, it turns heads and most of all IT'S YOURS. How many miles you get on a full tank? Peace.

    • @xtman693
      @xtman693  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      100 miles before reserve. I wish it had a bit bigger tank but I do like the way it looks as is so it might not look right with a larger tank.

    Have the same bike at my house 2005 s50 with 24,000 miles on it dreading doing the valves did a trip from Chicago to Lincoln Nebraska and back longest day 460 mi no windshield brutal could you let us know what windshield you went with looking for one for colder weather

    • @xtman693
      @xtman693  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the valves are a bitch. Get that little tool it helps a lot.
      Here’s the windshield I bought. It’s kind of a universal one. I wish I would have bought one that curved around my speedo and headlight better but it’s still better than nothing!

    How long does it take you to start up on cold days? Mine takes a good 10 minutes before I can let it idle without any choke

    • @xtman693
      @xtman693  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine is cold blooded also. Try giving the throttle about 4 twists before starting and see if it helps get it fired up sooner.
      But mine takes at least 10 minutes of idling before it runs right.

      Hey thanks for the comment! I am looking for a 1400 so I can pass the 800 onto to my kid. Are they just as reliable? Is the tank a bit bigger?

    • @Itsjake908
      @Itsjake908 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xtman693 Yes very reliable, the 1400 is actually air/oil cooled unlike yours. Which I personally prefer more. And the tank is still small unfortunately (3.4 gal)
      I’m actually selling mine to purchase something new when the good weather comes back around. I want something more suitable for longer rides & I’m tired of messing with carburetors...But all in all they are great looking classic cruisers!
