Dryer keeps blowing the high limit fuse. I repeated the steps you mentioned here on the same speed queen dryer. The "cycling thermostat" clicks and cycles correctly. Replaced the high limit thermostat but dryer only heats for 5 minutes then trips the high limit thermostat again. Airflow, motor, thermistor, are all good. Any idea how to fix this?
You have something grounding the element. Check your work. Or the high limit thermostat is stuck in the close position. The theory of operation is, press start power goes through the thermostat and motor, the thermostat breaks the circuit when it is too hot, if all is good you don’t have a problem. If the thermostat doesn’t cycle, the high limit will cut the circuit as a safety. When you have a short, basically high limit is the only thing that trips. Pull out the drum and work on it. Some people try to do it under the drum. Take more time. Don’t forget to subscribe. Keep me posted or send me a short video of what you’re doing
@appliancerepairshorts I've taken the drum out, checked the motor, motor fan, and removed all lint. I left the lower panel door off yesterday and watched the heating element get got, heard the thermostat click, watched the element cool down, but never started heating up again on a 40min timed cycle. It stopped heating around 5min mark.
I would put your meter on the thermal cut off and see if you are losing power on the wires or you might have a thermal cut off acting up
A new thermostat fixed my dryer. I noticed the limit went from 225-40 on the old one to 205-40 for the new one. Hope this may help someone with a similar dilemna.@appliancerepairshorts
