I think the Crimson Bond would be better used on allies rather than on enemies. Being able to know the location and condition of, let's say, the rogue who went to infiltrate a place can be very useful. Also, if its a situation where only one member of the party can listen or participate on a important conversation, the cleric can inform the rest of the party by listening trough the other player (who would purposefully fail the check) and share the information
Im currently playing a Dhampir blood cleric worshipping Kanchelsis, the vampire god from Spelljammer. Haven’t really used any of the features yet except for the bloodletting focus which has been really useful, even just 3 extra damage can mean the difference between just a wound and a straight up kill. Inflict wounds is an instantaneous spell, at level 1 you’re potentially doing 33 damage, 63 with a crit. Being a Dhampir makes crimson bond much easier to use too. The one time I’ve used it so far (on an enemy) I bit the target first so the blood sample was in my mouth. I can’t wait to get to level 17, Vascular Corruption Aura combined with Hold Person/Monster’ll come in clutch.
Crimson bond is really weak feature. You could argue that you could use it on your ally who willingly fails the save in order to know whether they are in danger but than again there is the Telepathic bond spell for this purpose... Blood puppet is cool thematicaly but the limitations are making this mechanicaly useless...

In other words, it's actually good for infiltration missions if used on the other players
Yeah I'm with you. Doing it on an enemy can be unreliable at best

I love all things cleric!
You and me both my friend
So this screams to me to play a Dhampir. "Give me your blood" "but you've got their blood right?😮😅" "I got thirsty and couldn't resist😢".😂🤣🤣🤣
Not Matt's best subclass. And yes let's get him a little therapy after these lol
