So flawless, so beautiful, so comfortable, & so complete! Pure serenity, pure joy, pure heart, & for sure pure Banks. Thank you, Tony, for all that you give us👏
"And Then There were Three"... Thanks for Ever...
Well this is a first for me tonight as I never realized that Tony Banks composed a played classical music and I’m completely blown away it’s absolutely beautiful..so emotional..I think it has a tint of John Williams in there..
The third piece that I prefer on "Five", after "Prelude To A Million Years" and "Renaissance". This is exactly what I love in Tony Banks' music, since he started with Genesis... This very strong, lyrical, romantic, symphonic approach with some classical influences that I can't exactly be sure of. But as I grow older and listen to more and more classical music, maybe I hear some Sibelius (I think that he appreciates this composer that I dig more and more), Elgar influences in Tony's music... Nevermind, this is *his* music and what matters is that it's at the same time ambitious, extremely accessible and ... just magnificent. "Five" often reminds me of his best contributions to Genesis' early albums. It's such a pleasure to review this album, like I reviewed "Seven" back in 2004 (I think this was my album of the year, by then), to try to give people the urge to listen and buy it. This should be made really famous... I am 100% sure that millions of people in the world would love this if they'd get a chance to hear it. So once again, "thank you" and Bravissimo ! to Tony Banks !
You can actually feel the ocean pulsating in this piece. The woodwinds kind of carry the action beginning with the soprano saxophone, then the clarinet, and ending with the flutes and oboe. Very nice music. Sounds a bit like John Williams.
i wonder , is it possible to get all the boys together and drum up a meaty last Genesis recording, you know Tony, the way its supposed to sound. Thanks for the emotion musically over the years, it was fun from this end.
So good, excellent creation. Heard this on the radio and the emotions it gave me were so striking, a story of the defeats and triumphs of love, the difficulty, and struggle of life, but finding beauty in it in the end. At least that’s my interpretation! Thank you for this and Cheers.
Really enjoying this view into Tony Banks' musical soul! I hear some Genesis sounding stuff and a lot of beauty! He has always had the ability to evoke a wide range of deep feeling with his music. Keep going, Tony!
It would be nice, sooner or later, to listen to a concert for piano and orchestra by Tony Banks.
Tony`s incredebly Talant is awsome and very uniuqe...and for me (million´s more) he is ang great peace of the "cake" GENESIS ;-) Thank You Toni Banks for my Musical Journey through my intire Live 🎵🎶🎹💝
Another great composition from the Maestro Tony!!! I'm still awaiting my vinyl copy with cd from England! This will get lots of time in my player!!! Tony's music is just breathtaking! So reminiscent of the older Genesis!!!! AMAZING!!!!
I felt lonely, completely unmotivated in my life, then i heard this song at the right moment, i knew that i had to save it after i was done at work... and now i have energy to fix everything.
So refreshing and inspiring! Thank you for this. Magnificent contrasts in dynamics, tempo, instrumentation - lovely horn parts - the intricate intertwining of all parts moving about truly speaks to the title - exquisite composition and of course, composer :)
Banks has said in interviews that his solo albums in the 90s sold well at first, but then they didn't do as well. That's possibly the reason why his piano is mixed so low in volume.
enough material for a new Genesis album, plus Mike is out there creating new terrific riffs with new Mechanics........ Phil may be sitting in his rocker recliner, singing at the top of his lungs who cares......
Many of the instruments featured in this arrangement cannot be heard including the most important, Tony's piano playing. Not even as a texture that blends with the orchestra. But that most likely was an artistic decision. Not sure I like the composition it seems to go nowhere. But as i can see from others in the comments really do enjoy it. Regardless it sounds great and totally professional.
Would make a wonder film score, or at least the beginnings of one. Beautiful melodies, but it lacks the bite of his unusual chord transitions and rhythmic interest.
Oh my Lord! I grew listening to Genesis! And now I can hear this amazing masterpiece! Great job, Tony! Thanks! ❤️🎶
Excellent! Love the peacefulness of this piece.❤
The soul of Genesis`s music.
Few things make me feel as joyful and happy as Tony's music does.
Check out Project Destati. It's a compilation of Kingdom Hearts (Playstation 2 game) original soundtrack. It sounds like this.
So flawless, so beautiful, so comfortable, & so complete!
Pure serenity, pure joy, pure heart, & for sure pure Banks.
Thank you, Tony, for all that you give us👏

Tony, out of time and space, a place of the mind that we all have, in what appears to be a splendid secret. Immortal is he who honors his art. Thanks!
He's playing in time.
Kidding; I know what u mean.

Lovely music Tony, thank you.
Tony’s piano parts still have that Genesis feel, as does the whole piece really 👌🏼
I think it's Genesis that has Tony's feel 😂
@@andreadigiuseppe7086 well I would never of thought that?! 🙄
@@Eleventhearlofmars never *have thought

Where Is the piano?
Wow, this is like 70's Genesis but with an orchestral arrangement. Tony's still got it! Amazing composer.
Tony, espetácular.
Saudades do Genesis 🇧🇷
In my opinion, those musicians who did studied rock and classic music they are genius writing some beautiful music.
Well this is a first for me tonight as I never realized that Tony Banks composed a played classical music and I’m completely blown away it’s absolutely beautiful..so emotional..I think it has a tint of John Williams in there..
Absolutely brilliant, made me think of Anthony Phillips and Harry Williamson's Tarka
This is so brilliant. Well done, sir.

This is a close second, though. The balances and the transformations are perfect. It ebbs and flows.
You can actually feel the ocean pulsating in this piece. The woodwinds kind of carry the action beginning with the soprano saxophone, then the clarinet, and ending with the flutes and oboe. Very nice music. Sounds a bit like John Williams.
No John Williams but raugh Williams english. Composer died in 1958😏
Tony I have just run out of words, too say how brilliant you are.
Sounds like Tony knows his Nyman, Martinu, Sibelius, Walton well. I can hear their influence on this work. Bravo!

The master of chords.
That he certainly is. And much else!
Steve Hackett has called him a real ChordSmith.
And the melodies.
After listening again and again , it grows more and more beautiful . Just a banks genesis characteristic thing.
Tony: Marvelous piece!! Its seems to me that iI was listening to some of impressionist French musicians, such as Debussy or Ravel. Beautiful melody
Not only beautiful melody, but wonderful orchestration as well. Awesome talent wonderful to witness.
A piece of magic to be loved and remembered and found somewhere a thousand years from now just as we hear it now.
i wonder , is it possible to get all the boys together and drum up a meaty last Genesis recording, you know Tony, the way its supposed to sound. Thanks for the emotion musically over the years, it was fun from this end.
arf shesaid Ironic that you use the term "drum up" because Phil can't play drums anymore. Ain't happenin'...extremely sad, but ain't happenin'.
@@pfriz Chester is still in top shape! :)
Kevin Parkinson True, but Phil is not in any shape to sing Genesis songs, much less his own. It's no fun seeing him the way he is.
D'une fan du Québec. More Tony Banks on this sad world. I love your music. Thank you so Much...you make me feel better
Beautiful music well done Tony ,a pure joy to listen too.
Tony Banks!
I love you, Tony 🖤

Hi Tony! I love everything you do! I am a big fun of Genesis and yourself of course! GREAT Music!
So glad I discovered this genius! I can work with my computer programs while listening to this! Makes the day so much better, thank you, Tony Banks!

It would be nice, sooner or later, to listen to a concert for piano and orchestra by Tony Banks.
I was wondering if pieces like this count as concerti (concerts).
This is amazing ,Power and soul like Life. Thanks ! Helena Brown
Breathtaking beautiful as if it was written in heaven. Thank you 🙏💛

Misteriosa y delicada, sutilmente bella. Sencillamente una genialidad! Bravo Maestro!!!
Another beautiful track from Five! And the video is lovely and captures all the high moments of the music! Fantastic!
This is so awesome and would make a great soundtrack or to quote some TV Series: "Genius Doesn’t Work On An Assembly Line Basis"
Música de primeiríssima! When will you make a show in Brazil , Tony?
I felt lonely, completely unmotivated in my life, then i heard this song at the right moment, i knew that i had to save it after i was done at work... and now i have energy to fix everything.
it's the Banks effect. Infallible.
Absolutamente increíble.

I wonder if this will ever be performed live? It really has that genesis fell.
Magique !
Tony's latest box set, *Banks Vaults,* features all of his rock solo albums remastered, plus *The Wicked Lady,* which may not be remastered.
Love Genesis ❤️
Great💙✨💙✨💙✨💙✨💙
I love it! You are a genios musician

Bellissima!

Are you suggesting that his keyboard skills are not up to high enough standard?

6:10 Those chords!
Another outstanding composition. Would have been better with Tony’s piano louder, icing on the cake so to speak......
xxYOURBIJOUxx top notch headphones will pick the piano up better, I’ve got some decent headphones on and can hear the piano parts very nicely.
"Steve`s guitar is mixed too low in this song!" -An average Steve Hackett fan I guess.

Why is the piano sow low in the mix in these videos? Does anyone know?
Amazing...
favolosa
Sounds a bit Mahleresque to me. Think the last movement of Mahler's 3rd symphony.
Tony has said that Mahler is one of his favorite composers!

I can only hear the piano a tiny bit. I wish that it were louder in the mix. Still, I like this music a lot. It's beautiful. ❤
Tony must be the illegitimate nephew of Vaughan Williams, or something..
Tetep demen
I don't hear the piano
Y el piano? Mudo?
It's too subtle & subdued; buried in the mix. I wish that it were louder. I can only hear it a tiny bit.
👂🏻🎹💭
You gave up on Me 💔
.
I loved you. 🤕
hard to hear as much piano as one would like on this mix, really straining to pick it out. love the music though.
Nice composition, but you can hardly hear the piano!
Tony's piano needed to be turned up
Yes, indeed
Would make a wonder film score, or at least the beginnings of one. Beautiful melodies, but it lacks the bite of his unusual chord transitions and rhythmic interest.
Tony's piano should have been more audible
Rhoda Borrocks are you using good headphones to listen? It can make a real difference to what you hear in the mix.
Yes I expect it would make a difference, thanks.
I can't hear it thru speakers.
Probably Tony knew what HE wanted.
Once an Orchestra is added, it becomes boring. Genesis was about innovative chemistry.
Nothing boring about it. Love the music 🎶. Why listen if u don't like orchestra works.
