Interesting. The impact of psychological trauma on the developing brain is a mental scarring that I long ago also referred to as the blackening. In theory, this is critical to development as it plays out in reality.
Trauma is mostly good. It makes you interesting and have depth. Just have to be able to be self aware and you can use it for good like drive and ambition in your life, helping others, thinking out of the box, handling stress better than others, etc. But society wants us all to be carbon copies or in same box. It’s why i think school will all be done on computer and you will get your socialization from other places that aren’t even created yet. It’s society that screws up up when we’ve been thru or seen bad things but 100s of years ago everyone went thru that or saw it and so society wasn’t as harsh as now and that’s what made us feel worse. We need James Hetfields and we wouldn’t without Trauma. We might not have Elizebeth without trauma and her drive. You just have to accept and be self aware so you don’t use it as excuse in your life or think your trauma is the worst-you only know what you know so it’s your choice from there and you have to learn that. You’ll be fine and special if that’s what you want and one big thing is you have to see the trauma you went thru with your new older brain because people get stuck looking at bad memories as if they’re still that age. Use your older brain to view it. You can’t have good without bad. Can’t have happy without sad. Forgive yourself and the people that did it to you and it will give you incredible strength -sounds stupid but it’s where the freedom is & will set you free from the jail and the walls you built.

Wonderful reaction. This song is the perfect example of why Metallica is my favorite band of all time! This song is 7 minutes and 29 seconds long and it never seems to drag. Your expertise points out what the listener naturally hears, but probably can’t identify, like the pauses and and such, which most people, especially me, just instinctively love. Thanks.

72 seasons album has been my favorite, it's definitely a slow grower for some fans but it hooked me right away. Shadows Follow and Screaming Suicide have been my jammers. But for reaction and analysis, Too Far Gone and Inamorata are excellent choices imo. But man, this album is worth a whole listen, I love Metallica.
James uses his voice almost as percussion. To me that's his most distinctive ability. He always did it to some extent, but it really showed in Load (1996), which I wouldn't say is the band's best, but it's the one James Hetfield's voice really perfected this quality which punctuates the songs rhythmically.
Love the way you break down this music, as someone whose not that musically inclined I find it helps me really appreciate the music in a new way. Have tickets to their concert in Brisbane Australia next year, my son is starting to get into it as well and we're going together. Can. Not. Wait.
This album is the most expiremental James has ever done vocally, period! You can almost never go wrong picking up pretty much any track from this album, but I'd definitely be looking forward to seeing your breakdown of Inamorata (the album closer) the most!
I’ve been listening to these guys since 1984, showing my age, but it’s so cool to see Elizabeth discovering them for the first time and actually appreciating the depth.
This is a fun Metallica related video you've created. Thanks for your time doing this. 72 Seasons is still growing on me , as I feel that Hardwired was hard to follow. Nonetheless, Metallica will always be my favorite music.
have to agree as this album has grown on me, I feel as though the album is not bad. It is solid in fact just very basic for them. Kinda expected more after hardwired which was the BEST comeback I've heard from a band in a long while
@@miikkakoskivaara8417 3 or 4 songs being super good is just Metallica, throughout all of their early albums they had 3 or 4 songs being super good too. In fact, I think the only album that didn't have at least 3 good songs was the St. Anger Album.
@@riveredflush Now that you mention it that is true. At the time of writing the original comment I didn't think of that. Perhaps my biggest let down in the album is that most of the good and not so good songs have more or less the same base. I enjoy variaty and consistancy, thou the style is consistant, to me this album just lacked passion. Compared to Harwired for example. I understand that not every album can hit the mark with everybody. It is hard for me to pin point exactly what's not quite there for me. I listen to 72 from time to time. Thou not my first choice it is still a good album.
That intro is absolutely fire, dang, I was absolutely head banging along to it. Speaking of, I appreciate your detailed breakdowns of songs, but I think it would be awesome to see a video of you absolutely getting into the music and bopping/head banging along with it!
I remember when they played the entire album in theaters, hearing that distorted intro at the beginning of 72 Seasons was amazing. It was very unique listening to an album in a movie theater but looking around and seeing people headbanging to the new record just made me so happy 😂
I love it very much how you analyze the whole song. The singing and the music, Elizabeth. Many times, it goes way over my head the way you explain it. It is thexway I comprehend music....I have the c same difficulty when I am Tango dancing to the music. As for the song lyrics and the meaning of the song..... I believe that the first 18 years of ones' life does mold you into the person you will be for the rest of your life.
Always love to hear/watch your analysis to my all time favorite band.....been listening to them for 30+ years and you somehow make me appreciate them even more, kind of like I'm rediscovering them all over again! It's a lot of fun 🙂 You have to watch their cover of the Thin Lizzy song "Borderline" from a December 2022 benefit they hosted.....I think it really showcase James' vocal maturity.....
James did an interview when the album came out. Apparently he had a home studio where he went and woodshedded the vocals, figuring out what he liked before taking it back to finish up at HQ. This was a new thing for him, where he didn’t have to worry about who was waiting for him to finish. This album has some of the interesting vocal work of any of their albums, imho.
Yeah, and the new-er names like Powerwolf, Sabaton, Nightwish, Kamelot & _Unleash the Archers_ make great appetizers & sides. Hopefully they'll too have very long careers ahead of them to become both the main dishes & the desserts which they can all become.
@@ccelik97They are not really newer names except maybe Unleash the Archers. They are around for 15-20 years. Helloween to motion another one started at around the same timeframe as Metallica...
Binge watching your many analyses of music, is great fun! It is refreshing to see how you are able to find virtue in most all songs and genre. Very often, coming from a mostly serious music background - either as performers or as mere listeners - we develop a most unfair bit of snobbery towards anything musically disparate from what we happen to know or wish to discover. I grew up with this band (‘80’s) and now live up the street from Lincoln Centre and The Metropolitan Opera House which affords one the opportunity to take-in concerts on a whim - and to which I take full advantage of the geography. And tho it deeply pleases me to see a band continue to produce music that doesn’t diminish from how organically music can and should be created
I'll give your comment a thumbs up. While your comment may seem to most as you are a musical snob, I do recognize that you are a true old school listener of Metallica. In fact, I wish I could listen to good live music, pretty much on demand...
@@riveredflush hallo and many thanks for yours. Well, should one be at all bothered by what another might think of a post .ie. - snobbish comment? Is the internet not absolutely filled with people chucking about vitriol?

James is one of the world’s most wonderful lyricists. And his process is interesting… the song has to be complete before he writes the lyrics. Also agree with the recommendation of Inamorata!
i really love watching your videos, your in-depth analysis, emotions and reactions. May i have a request? would love to see you diving into Jex ( Jex Jordyn). Her voice feels so distinctly airy, almost ethereal. I am curious your personal opinion, and im sure she also deserves to be more recognized by people
Got to see the guys live last year on their 2-night shows. The pulls from 72 Seasons sounded awesome live, and they played amazingly from the opener on night 1 to the close on night 2.
When I first heard this song, it hit me as a combination of their first 4 albums all in one. Maybe it’s just me but that’s what I heard. I’m glad Metallica is keeping on with their music I’ve been a fan of theirs since 1987 when got into music at 11 years old.
I always enjoy your videos, thanks for making them! I am very curious on what your opinion would be on a Japanese artist called Ado, if you end up listening to any of her songs, I would highly recommend you start on her cover of Unravel (the live version), its mind blowing to me the way she switches from an angelic voice to a scream in that short time. Thanks again for the video analysis!
Cant believe its been a year since this album came out. I remember when this tune dropped, i was heavily ill with horrible ear/throat/tooth pains and this song absolutely blew my head. When the chorus kicked in i had tears running down my cheeks. Ahh so nostalgic
Absolutely amazing song. All of Metallic's glory on display. Was good live too. First night started with Creeping Death. Second night I think was this. What a show. They are on fire at the moment.
I think you would like to do an analysis of Bleeding Me, especially from their S&M album in 1999 with the San Francisco Symphony. The song has a lot of vocal range, and is a lot different style of music from their earlier (and more recent) songs.
I think this song may be their most artistic. The theme of the album deals with the first 18 years of life. We find references to this in the lyrics. I think the intro and outro are expressions of before and afterlife. They're expressing the seasons of life in blocks with distinct vocal and rythmatic expression that express seasons or periods of our lives. As far as the music video. The sun is represented centrally with the band at times, spining around the sun. There is a lot of fire, but there is some blue, cool coloring, which is expressing to me up and down of life. Lastly, I think the length of the song is intentional in that it takes you for a ride and is almost tiring, almost too much. Just like life. Lastly, I want to say that about half the reason I watch these videos is just for Elizabeth's expressions. She wears the experiences on her sleeve, if you will.
Absolutely great review. I had been waiting for another one from 72 Seasons. You absolutely need to do Inamorata and I really think you will love You Must Burn
I love all your reactions. You should do a vocal reaction to Paul Mccartney Monkberry Moon Delight or Maybe I'm amazed(live) and explore(and enjoy) some of the best vocals of the 70s. Love from Germany I think I watched almost every video
Can never have enough Metallica. Fantastic album. I’ve been listening to and playing bass guitar to Metallica for years. The changes they have brought to their music over the years has been met with controversy but that controversy has kept Metallica relevant through the years and you have to give the guys credit for continuing to smash it. I also recommend Inamorata. Tune!!!!
Hey! I think you should give Avenged Sevenfold another chance, i know that A little piece of heaven was bit too much for you lyrically, even though it is an amazing song, but you should really check out other songs that really display how talented these guys are. Suggestions: Afterlife, bat country, nightmare, almost easy and hail to the king
This is cool. I used to be a HUGE Metallica fan for most of my life and I just recently stopped listening to music within the past few years for personal reasons. I heard they had a new album, but didn't listen to until now. And I'm looking forward to the analysis of James's vocals. I've always loved James's singing. I used to say if I could sing I'd want to sound like James or Frank Sinatra.
Wanted to thank you for listening and bringing the most talented rock performer of all. Stands the test of time, always something new in every performance, voice extordinair. Have you reacted to Dio Black Sabbath Die Young. Made my life time to bring out Ronnie.
I learned a bit from this. It's interesting how in addition to how lines typically rhyme, his vocal phrasing approach as a goal, he tries to make sure that lines up as well. One thing I took away from the "there's breathing out, but NOT back in" - how he goes up in tone in "not" gives off this conversational approach; it's like he's speaking to the listener. He's telling you the story. Painting the picture for you. That inflection of how it's important to him that you understand what he's "telling" you.
Dear Elizabeth ma'am, Today is my Seventeenth Birthday! So I have to thank you for the Birthday gift! I have started discovering you on May 2023! Ever since you truly changed my life! Why? There are lots of bands that have been going just as long, or longer, who are playing just as hard, or harder. eg. Overkill , Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Mercyful Fate, Discharge, GBH, The Exploited, Voivod, and Exodus.
@@Gregbaltzer Not to hate on any of the bands you mentioned, i listen to some of them myself but the Metallica gold standard for song writing and sound is definetly higher than most bands and for them to still sound that good even with their new stuff is awesome.
@@halla359 I would agree with what you said in the 80s to early 90s but Metallica's song writing has gone down hill a lot since then. I like the last 3 albums, but none of them rate higher then a 6/10. Voivod, and Kreator are releasing better albums. The problem with Metallica's song writing is that they've lost the ability to self edit themselves to the point where their albums/songs become bloated, and to lots of people, boring. If they trimmed down their song/album lengths and made things more concise then they would be much stronger. Still most bands can't touch their early output. But Iron Maiden has suffered the same fate as Metallica the last couple albums. They don't self edit anymore.
@@Gregbaltzer I agree. But i think 72 seasons still has some resemblence with the black album is still cool, but yeah its partially bloated and overdone

Excited to hear that you're going to listen to more Metallica, Elizabeth! So many tracks we'd all love you to hear, I'm sure. But I wonder whether you'd enjoy Orion. Instrumental by Cliff Burton. Glad to see prices for Extreme were reasonable, I got three general admission tickets all fees included for under $150. You Can't even stand outside of Gillette stadium next August with Metallica for that LOL
The last two albums have really shone a spotlight on the band's ferocity and arranging talent. Even more, I think that the production of these last two albums is the best the band has ever sounded. James' guitars sound like rapid-fire machine guns on those percussive chugging riffs. Everything sounds clear, and James seems to have found a comfort zone for his voice and a method for singing those aggressive parts safely. Elizabeth, I think it would be great for you to listen to each album in order on your own. I think the arc of Metallica's recording career shows a band constantly growing, evolving, pushing boundaries, and honing their craft to maturity. I have really enjoyed their music since I first heard them in 1984, and they have never failed to surprise me.
I would argue that this album right here is the best example pf James' vocal range. It has aged like a fine wine with the years and he has perfected his craft.
72 seasons is below their first five albums on my list of favorites, but I _DO_ think it's the first thing they've done since the first Load album that's actually a good representation of where they were as humans and musicians when they made it.
You should react to Kim Dracula, their songs are amazing, there is so much going on that you wouldn’t expect and I’m really curious on how Kim does it all

Can. Not. Wait.
The star of the whole 72 seasons album is how James Hetfileld took time and expressed a variety of emotions and techniques across different songs.
This feels like a throwback to the Garage Inc days, Blitzkreig, Killing Time, or Overkill. Love that they can make old sounds sound fresh!
Your face at 29.07 says it all. Great analysis!
This is a fun Metallica related video you've created. Thanks for your time doing this. 72 Seasons is still growing on me , as I feel that Hardwired was hard to follow. Nonetheless, Metallica will always be my favorite music.
Although I'm not a big fan of this album, you're approach is educational and I learned something
have to agree as this album has grown on me, I feel as though the album is not bad. It is solid in fact just very basic for them. Kinda expected more after hardwired which was the BEST comeback I've heard from a band in a long while
Have to add that 3 or 4 songs are super good over all thou. Not great but good.
Iron Maiden and Metallica in the same week! My favorite bands! ❤❤
I really enjoyed this review! It was interesting to learn about the role of using space in this song.
Elizabeth feeds her musical soul with DIO for main course and Metallica for dessert 🤘#letsgettoit 🤘
@@martinkasper197 Comparatively speaking, they're all newer names than the ones previously mentioned.
I’m a huge Metallica fan and have loved your dive into them. And it gives me a whole new view of their songs. Keep it up.
you have to do room of mirrors of this album please!!!!
And Inamorata
Yesss, James sounds amazing in that one
@@tristanrl1940 It is absolutely filled with them, and if you aren't bothered with them, you shouldn't be. They do all chuck vitriol, in fact, I have chucked a fair amount of vitriol, too...
I can't wait for the day you analyze "Inamorata" greetings 🇲🇽 ❤
Please do “If Darkness Had a Son” or “Inamorata” next whenever you can! Those two along with Chasing Light are my three favorites from the album
James is one of the world’s most wonderful lyricists. And his process is interesting… the song has to be complete before he writes the lyrics.
Also agree with the recommendation of Inamorata!
You should do a reaction video to “All Within My Hands”, maybe even the live performance with San Francisco Symphony. Love the vids, keep it up!🫶🔥💯
James with his riffs and lyrics! Is this man not a musical genius?! Will he ever run out of riffs and lyrics. Poetic and musical master!
He is, if it was any other genre he would be the most celebrate musician of all time
One of my Favorite songs to play on the guitar, I also seen them twice in Montreal last year. Best time of my life!
Inamorata is a great song off of the 72 Seasons Album. That needs to be next up! PLEASE!
Loved your thoughts and analysis, particular your thoughts on the song itself.
I highly recommend listening to "Inamorata" from the same album
It's just a masterpiece!!!
i really love watching your videos, your in-depth analysis, emotions and reactions. May i have a request? would love to see you diving into Jex ( Jex Jordyn). Her voice feels so distinctly airy, almost ethereal. I am curious your personal opinion, and im sure she also deserves to be more recognized by people
You MUST listen to Room of Mirrors, James sounds amazing in that song!
I always enjoy your reactions to these guys. *high-fives-like-whoa*
I love how you know James voice.
You gotta listen to "Too Far Gone" from this album! The chorus gives me goosebumps everytime 😫
Yes so GD
Cant believe its been a year since this album came out. I remember when this tune dropped, i was heavily ill with horrible ear/throat/tooth pains and this song absolutely blew my head. When the chorus kicked in i had tears running down my cheeks. Ahh so nostalgic
Absolutely amazing song. All of Metallic's glory on display. Was good live too. First night started with Creeping Death. Second night I think was this. What a show. They are on fire at the moment.
I saw them in Detroit in November both nights with my son. Incredible show. They definitely still rock hard live.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤ I would like to see another Metallica 72 seasons reaction. You are a great person.
I think you would like to do an analysis of Bleeding Me, especially from their S&M album in 1999 with the San Francisco Symphony. The song has a lot of vocal range, and is a lot different style of music from their earlier (and more recent) songs.
Your reviews are great, I'm from Brazil! He then analyzes Brazilian artists, such as "Tim Maia" and "Elis Regina". :D
I still think both Inamorata and The Outlaw Torn top this song in these areas.
I'll check them out. Thanks.
Love from Germany I think I watched almost every video
i second this
Can never have enough Metallica.
I used to say if I could sing I'd want to sound like James or Frank Sinatra.
i would love to see more live performance reactions :)
Wanted to thank you for listening and bringing the most talented rock performer of all. Stands the test of time, always something new in every performance, voice extordinair. Have you reacted to Dio Black Sabbath Die Young. Made my life time to bring out Ronnie.
Metallica has always been one of the best at musical transitions. It's what makes their music very easy to listen to and follow
Dear Elizabeth ma'am,
Today is my Seventeenth Birthday! So I have to thank you for the Birthday gift!
I have started discovering you on May 2023! Ever since you truly changed my life! You are the original reason why I always deeply appreciate, love and listen to everything about music right from genres, singers, drummers and so on. Your facial expressions never fail to make me smile! I also love to see you getting giddy with joy whenever you listen to any music for the first time! When I watched your reaction and analysis for Nirvana's cover of The Man Who Sold The World acoustically on MTV Unplugged, the moment you told all us as viewers that a voice should not be perfect, but a voice should be what the message needs to be delivered,I can't help but to appreciate you for being such an authentic, pure and positive person!
So I have to thank you for sharing the gift! May you continue to take me and all of us on a journey of appreciating music!
Yours Lovingly,
Debarati!
😊❤🎉
Happy birthday 🎉
Congrats on getting through 68 seasons so far. 😅
Room of Mirros is the standout for me in this album, definitely give it a listen/do a video on it
Every time I worry that Metallica are getting too old to keep it up, they come out with something new like this. Sounding as good as ever!
@@halla359 they just sound like metallica, but if you arent a die hard fan, you'll see this album is average at most as a metal album.
You know what....I liked this song, but after you analyzed it, I love it! :)
I'd love see you do Inamorata by Metallica off this album
You have to do Inamorata! Also from the 72 Seasons album. Longest Metallica song to date and some amazing vocals in there!
React to the whole album please the songs just get better and better
you need to do Bend from Volumes, that duo is fire, the amount of emotion on their voices and the video itself, is insanely good
72 Seasons as a whole is just a banger.
wow! production value! the best new metallica song I´ve heard for quite a while. thank you for your great reaction/analysis. they are such an iconic band and have influenced so many. plus they have hetfields voice! I wonder what you would think if you compare ths one to metallica influenced "Dissonance" from the 2023 lovebites album "judgement day", their heaviest, even asami sounds heavy, she is the thrash lover in lovebites. how great it would be, to see them opening for metallica in 2024!
Please consider listening to James' solo tribute to Eddie Money, Baby Hold On! His vocal is just spectacular and filled with emotion for his friend.
Excited to hear that you're going to listen to more Metallica, Elizabeth! So many tracks we'd all love you to hear, I'm sure. But I wonder whether you'd enjoy Orion. Instrumental by Cliff Burton. He loved Bach and you can hear the classical influence. And then go to the other extreme of Metallica and try Anaesthesia (Pulling teeth) / Whiplash! I love how you seem to be getting more and more into metal. I thought 'She's defo one of us now' as I watched! ❤😃🤘
I think you should do Inamorata next, great song and great vocals
You should also listen to Room of mirrors and Inamorata. I think you will really enjoy them.
As always with the Grammy's there's questions about who gets nominated and not. Would love to hear your reaction to a "Rise" from the band Extreme that didn't make the short list for some reason..... Absolutely amazing guitar work on that one.
Extreme is still going? Cool
Extreme is on tour nowI.- I just bought tickets to see them Live in Clearwater FL, March 9th I think. Nuno is one of the greatest check top comment on The Rise video!
Rise is a meh song with an awesome solo. Nuno is Nuno. Gary doesn’t do the song justice and I feel they should’ve approached his part differently.
Can you react to The Thing That Should Not Be from Seattle '89? It's one of the best examples of James' vocal range
She should do Battery of Whiplash from that show instead. That's just peak Metallica in general.
You should react to Kim Dracula, their songs are amazing, there is so much going on that you wouldn’t expect and I’m really curious on how Kim does it all
I just recently discovered your channel and love it ... Huge Metallica fan as well... Look into Bleeding Me. I think you'll love it. Keep going you're fantastic ☺️
Really want to see Elizabeth react to some more opeth, Burden, harvest maybe
Una joya!!! 🖤🤘🏼 la evolución vocal de James post 91 fue increíble, y no paró nunca
