Great video! Vienna has always been one of my favourite cities. But, I'm wondering, have you ever planned on doing a video on the history of Dubrovnik ( and the Republic of Ragusa). The city has a really rich history and as a Croat I'd love to see you make a video about it because your content is great! Cheers :)
@@MLaserHistory Thanks for the fast response! Yes, I did catch that. Many croatian cities have good history, but I feel like Dubrovnik has the best one. It has been attacked many times (last time was in 1991 during the Yugoslav wars), is one of the roots of croatian culture and the Republic of Ragusa was really powerful from my understanding. I'll be waiting!
Fantastic overview in less than 10 minutes! (Although at 5:43 you wrote “for all intensive purposes” regarding the old Roman sewer system, when the correct phrase is “for all intents and purposes” but minor detail). Thanks for making a fun watch, subbed to your channel!
Wow I was looking for a video on Vienna the other day and couldn't find a good one, then I got your recommendation from History Simplified and I finally find what I am looking for. Great job M. Laser history!
Very nice video, one small correction: You showed the Rathaus as an example of golden age baroque times building, however it is one of the Ringstraßen buildings you later referd to. Better example would have been the Belvedere palaces.
The former Haitian Prime Minister Gérard Latortue appreciated his life in Vienna as a UN worker, often talking about "his Viennese comfort" (mon confort viennois).
Hitler was from Austria. It's interesting to see the parallels between the rural Austrian flag and the Nazi flag and to find out that Hitler hated Vienna.
Geez. Imagine if these leaver points went more in Czech-Slovak favours. 1. Bohemia not only getting Moravia but Nitrava (western Slovakia) 2. It would not lose control over Austria AND Slovenia. 3. It would not lose Selislia. This on its own would be equitable to Austria Hungary... but not Austrian, Nor Hungarian. And what's more... majority of the citizens would be led by a familiar culture...
I think the extra work is worth it if you want to reach wider audience. I have no trouble understanding your czech english, as I'm also czech, but others may.
I knew Vienna was the capital of the Austrian empire, but I never knew there was so much history behind it, Great Video!
The damn winged hussars had me laughing my butt off.
They always come unexpectedly
First! Pleasure working with you
Yay
Hitler, Stalin & Trotzky also lived in vienna xD
Stalin& Hitler even lived there at the same time...
@@MLaserHistory Hitler applied at the University of Applied Arts but was rejected. Such a pity.

“Most of them did not survive till the end of World War II”
Wait. . . *resurrection?*
Great history lesson. And so much information in a small time. Surprising for me, even as an Austrian. Thank you and keep up your phenomenal work.

0:35 Beč is pronounced with a longer e, not a short, quick one. Nice video BTW, vrlo zanimljiv
You are a fucking Genius with the comentary of free wifi hahahahaha I literally LOL
In english we pronounce Beethoven like Bay Toven, so we do not use our TH on his name.
The more correct pronunciation would be "Bait-Hofen". That would be quite close to what it should sound.
Great video

Loved the video, but I think it was worth mentioning that Suleiman the Magnificant was also at its gates.
He wanted to deliver a bag of coffee.
World War I was not "inevitable".
Dobre, vdaka.
Vienna is a right Becs.
Excuse me, I took in a lot of stuff from this episode but don't say "St. Stephan's Cathedral"... It's *Stephansdom* ok?

You failed to mention the big Vienna mayor personality Karl Lueger :)
Isn't Beethoven German
Of course he was, but he lived in Vienna for more than 35 years until his death.
You forget when hungary took over vienna
Hungary should have taken Turkey
awesome man but you have to improve your accent or get someone else to talk or include close captions why dont you!
