    I’ve had my Husky, Beowulf, since he was 8 weeks. He’s almost 2. He’s got the biggest baby eyes & aside from his jumping up on people out of extreme excitement issue, he’s the sweetest boy. I would have never thought he could be mean. Until a family member got him a GIANT raw bone (his first real bone, too) for Christmas. He got VERY territorial and aggressive towards our other dog. He even pinned her down after he had moved his bone and she went to lick the crumbs up from where he just was. She was fine, but it was still scary to see that side of him. We do not give him bones anymore, they just make him too territorial. So it is true, you ever know what may send them into a weird state.

      @SweetTeaAndCoffee 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marissa Urias yeah since he is still learning we chose not to let him have it. We don’t want him to think he is in a higher place in the family & be mean to our littler dog. They get along so great, we don’t want anything to possibly change that!

    Hi Sixty Formula, all my dogs though not huskies are rescue dogs. I have (4). As you said need to be a little more cautious with rescues because you never know what exactly they have been through earlier in their lives. For example, my lab Maxx was left at a shelter for euthanasia and was starved. I got Maxx when he was 8 weeks old and originally he was extremely people scared and tremendously food aggressive. Now his food can be removed (never) and he just looks like why? And has become extremely friendly with all people. It just takes repeated and consistent work to over-come. Keep up the good work and be safe.

    My husky was a rescued dog. My husband found her about 5 months ago, well that's how long I have had her. She really only likes table food. I guess when my husband found her she probably was eating out of garbage cans. But I couldn't turn her away. She protects me at all times. Follows me everywhere. She is just so loving. She looks like your Brittany Spears...

    Something that people don't always consider is that big dogs can have a prey response to little dogs. It's super important to teach your big dogs to respect little dogs regardless of how they are acting or things like this can happen.

    • @WolfDog127
      @WolfDog127 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Olegas Sevcenko The best way is to introduce them to a lot of different dogs as a puppy and if they behave in a way that in unacceptable you correct them. You can teach an older dog the same way but as he said in the video you need to do it much slower and more carefully.

    My husky is very calm and good.
    The only problem I have is when I take him to the dog park, he is very dominant and he doesn't play with us .. he just wants to smell things and jump on other dogs.. Other than that he is the most sweet dog i've ever seen. 😍

    My sweet baby is a rescue. She is a Siberian Husky, we got her when she was about 1 year old. Sounds crazy but she is our child. She understands so many words and is very well behaved . Not as well trained as yours of course. But she loves her Mommy and Daddy and we love her. She sleeps with us , goes everywhere with us. She is our joy. Yes she is spoiled and we like it that way. It she returns the love and shows us sooo much love . I always enjoy your videos. Thanks , Happy Husky Mom!

    Hey there, thanks for the fun and informative videos. I have a 1-year-old Husky and he came to us at 3 months with some dangerous behaviours. He is a resource guarder and will lung and bite when he is in this mode. Like when eating or with a novelty toy. He can't be in a home with kids or anyone who can't read his signals. It has been recommended by our behaviourist this is behaviour that can't be trained out, but only diminished. His future is very uncertain. he is 95% angel dog and 5% dangerous, but a 60 lbs of dangerous. All dogs can be a huge commitment, all dogs can be dangerous, especially rescues.

      Julia Smith we just got our Siberian Husky mix last Wednesday. She was a stray brought to the Humane Society. She was there since March 11th. I am wondering if the lockdown from the Virus had anything to do with it. Anyway, the shelter named her Blue, because she has one blue eye. I didn't like the name so we remained her Luna. Small world, isn't it?

    We just adopted a 2 year old Husky that we named Loki (my wife came up with the name before seeing it on another of your videos!) and we did a deep dive into your content beforehand so we'd be prepared. At a park today, our very well-behaved but anxious-to-play-with-other-dogs Husky, who was on a harness and collar, with the leash attached to both, became excited at seeing another dog and you'd have thought we'd brought a demon from hell giving out samples of COVID-19 from the reaction of the other owner. He didn't lunge, howl, or anything - he just jumped up to play, and we were about 40 feet apart. That owner skedaddled so fast it wasn't even funny. I'm hoping not all owners of other breeds freak out like that.

    I love my husky. She’s very lovable and playful. But After watching your videos I did notice I did a few things wrong because I kinda just let her have a run of the house since she was 6 months, she is a year and 5 months now. I don’t crate her. I let her sleep on my bed, on the couch which I think is fine.She won’t stop chasing the cats lol. She does not listen that well, I’m still trying to get her to stay when I say stay. She does sit and give me her paw when I say to, she begs a lot for food (my mistake)... but she is a good dog. She is well loved. I been trying to teach her how to speak and catch treats in the air but it’s a work in progress. We recently got a puppy (not a husky) it’s a smaller breed dog and she is doing so so well with him and I am very glad. I was worried but she is being a good sister

    Thanks for the video! I took your advise and didn't watch the video that was mentioned. But I got the impression from the thumb nail that the dog that was killed was very small. My siberian husky has a very strong prey drive, like all huskys and other working dogs, and she might do something like that if given the chance. My dog is very obedient but she's also an animal, and animals hunt. It's tragic that another dog died, but people need to understand and respect that some dogs are bred to hunt and it doesn't mean that they're bad dogs. We can try to teach our huskys that small dogs aren't prey but it doesn't always work. If owners and boarders have an understanding for working breeds than things like this won't happen. Sixtyformula, have you done any videos on husky prey drive and how to manage it, so that we can protect and respect our huskys and other dogs?

  • @GnLguy
    @GnLguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sixty Formula Excellent advice on all parts of this video. Agree that any dog can have an episode that they fight with another dog - that's just a fact of life with a dog. My Husky is a sweetheart - she resembles Hila and her name is Kiyah - but she is an Alpha and she will assert that dominance. She once pounced on a Dachshund/Beagle mix when the little dog was wanting to play. With larger dogs, she will try to exert her dominance but she doesn't fight them. The possibility of a dog being an Alpha has to be taken into account on all breeds. Also, male dogs of any breeds can be aggressive around a female in heat and fights can break out. That's nature - not that a breed is necessarily aggressive. I've owned 5 Huskies and I wouldn't own any other breed - bought my first one in 1985, been around countless others and since then I've only seen 1 Husky that was mean. It was by itself in a kennel in the hot sun and it tried to bite me thru the fence. Who knows how it had been treated in its life???

    I have 6 dogs in my house, 3 being huskies. Honestly, our Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix is the most aggressive of them all. They all play together, but the tiny dog gets too wound up after a while and gets too hostile, so my other dogs simply stop and ignore him. Even when we go out walking, my dogs will flat out ignore other dogs who are barking at us. My Huskies are super nice around kids too, but the female is cautious around other men. Personally, dogs from different households shouldn't be around one another without supervision. Small dogs tend to have a sort of napoleon complex that causes them to be unnecessarily vocal/confrontational.

    • @JenXGirl
      @JenXGirl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brain Serum that’s similar to me. I have two shiba inus. My pomeranian barks like crazy,for any excuse 😂,while they play. I call her their fake child because they let her get away with stuff and they outrun her in the yard. The good thing is, they know she is little and treat her accordingly. She is not dog aggressive though. She’s quiet in public,and when new people come in the house, she barks, but stops when they come in,and is very calm and affectionate.

    My fiance always gives me shyt for not being comfortable leaving our 7mo husky home alone with the cats for longer than an hour or two and that video is precisely why. He's never shown a sign of aggression with them WHATSOEVER but I'd rather not leave an opportunity for chance. He's 7mo now, but we've only had him 3-4 out of those 7. It's just better to not leave them alone until we know 100%.

    I have a 1yo husky wolf mix and sunday morning a pitbull came into my yard and attacked her and my wife and before I was Abel to make it outside to intervene my husky was protecting my wife and I grabbed the pit by the collar and pined it to the ground until the cops came. I couldn't be happier with how our husky acted and protected my wife and other dog. I love ours to death best breed ever

    Our Husky growls and bites a little (not hard) when we wipe her feet when she comes indoors. We just this week got another female Siberian Husky mix, and they are battling out who is the Alpha. They can get pretty aggressive towards each other, but they stop when one of them gets hurt too bad. The new dog is food and toy aggressive. She was a rescue stray from the Humane Society.

    My Sibe has gotten into several fights with her sister (Heeler/pit mix). Two of the times we have no idea why they were fighting. The other two times we saw what caused the aggression (1 - Sibe tried to leave yard and pit tried to stop her. 2 - I got my pit to riled up and Sibe thought she was attacking me). 1 time my Sibe attacked my heeler/pit for no friggin reason at all, fortunately I was sitting right there and stopped it before anything bad happened. My sibe is just over 4 now, I've had her since she was about 6 months old. Our Heeler/pit is about 9 and we've had her since she was about 3 months. Other than what I listed they get along fine, give each other kisses, bark at neighbors together, be lazy around the house although my Sibe just HAS to growl to make sure EVERYONE knows she is about to lay down wherever it is she is laying down. So are Huskies aggressive? The answer is yes, just like any other doggo can be. Now my pit/shepard male doggo is the biggest scaredy dog you will ever find. He hates thunder and any other strange loud noises and if something bad is going on in the yard he attempts to tell somebody. Other than that he is the biggest love bug you will ever find.

    Would hate to get a pup & it not working out.

    Huskies are completely safe dog's as with any dog it's how they are raised and treated I am on my second Husky and I am just hooked on them they have such great personalities. Just have to watch them as they do have a very high predator instinct. But once again it's all in how to raise them and treat them.

    Britney Spears at the beginning: Daddio, we gotta start the video so everyone can see my cuteness. C'mon daddio-dad, seriously? Hila on her cot:I'm not fat daddy. If someone would stop giving me treats during work, I would be trim, but I just gain weight in certain areas. You know what? Lets stop talking about my weight. Do the video thingy already. Jeez.

    Was just walking my 3 month old husky today and a pitbull came running and barking at us in attack mode. Luckily the pitbull was a tame dog and once it got up to us the pit and my husky just smelled each other.

    You’ve talked about it in the past and obviously you’d be the one living with the decision, but I’d love it if you got a third. The a ginger husky pup could complete the trio and the puppy would give you plenty of videos

    My brother and I were running our usual route and a husky fallowed us home. Been with him for about a month and a half. He has no chip, and when he first interacted with us he was amazing. But very dirty and skinny. I could wrap my hands around his stomach and my thumbs and index fingers could touch. Took him to the vet and found out he had hook worms as well as heart worms.
    I hope you can help me out. After his heartworm treatment, he must not do anything that will raise his heart rate super high. For an entire month he must be watched and cannot free roam. The vet told me it could be fatal after treatment.
    Since he is so active, he runs and has a very big yard to play in with 3 other pups.
    What can I do to keep him occupied and busy?
    He gets board easy, and if he doesn't run or have a full play day (which is very rare) he paces at night and is a trouble maker. Is there anything specific they love to sit and play with???? Would love some advice! Thank you

      Play the sprinkles game (take tiny bit of cheese and throw them in the grass) or play musical cups (hide a treat under one cup and have the dog guess after you have moved them around) get slow eater bowls, Kong's and buffalo horn and rotate them all stuffed with his food at meal time. Hide treats around your house or under a rug and have him search, do basic obedience training etc. Also, once he's recovered I highly recommend a flirt pole, my dog is a husky mix and the flirt pole was the best toy I ever got to play with him

      In an extreme emergency like this, put a wide, flat stick (like a ruler) into the gap in the teeth three quarters from the front of the jaw. Pull it backwards while twisting and the dog should open it's mouth. Careful they may turn to bite your hand.

    • @Aerncartos
      @Aerncartos 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another way to seperate a dog from something is to sweep your arm under the dog's belly near their haunches. Pick their back end up and pull them backwards. If you keep moving backwards they are unable to swing their head towards you.

      @@rachaelcook8113 the problem is that I've done a lot of research, and every husky specialist said that you can never fully trust your husky being alone with your cat because they have a high prey drive. I would never be able to sleep knowing my husky could lash out at my poor cat at some point
