Black Diamond Presents: Nalle Hukkataival-Tuzgle, Argentina

  • Tuzgle is a climbing mecca with untapped potential. As Nalle puts it in this film, if these boulders were in the States near a Whole Foods, they would be the most popular blocs in the world. The difference, however, is that these giants sit at 14,500 feet. That means only a few intrepid seekers like Nalle and alpinist Matt Lloyd have visited this immaculate valley.
Lucky for us, Nelson Carayannis of Mind Frame Cinema captured a wealth of footage from Nalle’s trip, documenting first ascents and repeats of Tuzgle’s classic lines. Enjoy this film and get psyched for the fall bouldering season.

So inspiring, Nalle is my favorite climber I wish he would put out more content. I love the way he approaches these gigantic lines. He has such a unique vision that really inspires me in my bouldering.

One of the best I’ve seen in a long time! This is why Nalle’s my favorite climber...he only does it for him, and everything he puts up is 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Probably the most beautiful bouldering I've ever seen, both for the quality of the rock and for its magnificent lines and features!

This area was brought to the light some 15 years ago, Danilo Pereyra and colleges did a week long trip and brush around 70 boulders. They did also did some FA's on trad on what they called "the mini Indian Creek" crack climbing in the area is also incredible and endless but rather short routes.

A while ago, Petzl sent some strong ass people to this place. This is the first time since that I have seen anything about it and I am just FLOORED at how breathtakingly stark and beautiful it is. That being said, FUCK THE WIND!!! I hate wind! Don’t know if I would be able to deal with that.
    Gorgeous film! Worth every second!

A lot of these aren’t new lines. I left Argentina in 2007 but some of us had ticked most of these lines in the early 2000s. There was just no TH-cam etc then. But it’s a nice film and I pleased you enjoy our rock.

Inspiring video to get out snd feel the howl. 😝In awe of it all. I wonder if anyone has really mapped out “untouched” climbing areas? Or a actual guidebook on “first ascent” protocols, aka ethos? I finally met someone that actually drills and bolts routes - took me just under 6 years. 😂 Great respect for “setters” and “first ascent-ers”.

Absolutely beautiful. Laughing my ass off though. Desert, real desert, has wind all the time. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year. It might be 5mph, and it might be 60mph. Winds swirl over our heads constantly kicked up by trees, mountains, houses, etc. In the desert, there is nothing to stop it. Deserts are absolutely primal, absolutely basic.

I visited Tuzgle in 2018 en route to Salta. I cant comment on the bouldering but the sport climbing and crack is fantastic. The rock is ignimbrite of the best quality ive ever seen (and ive climbed a lot of it). I would take these FA's with grain of salt as the area has been climbed extensively even though boulders and routes have never been properly catalogued.

Hi Patrick, know you made this comment a while ago but when you were climbing there, did you manage to find some topo website / book somewhere? Been looking for a long time now but didn't manage to and I'm by far not expert enough to just go there and try any route

High quality cinematography and sweet lines. Only complaint was the Colorado guy commentary. He sounded really full of himself literally every time he spoke it sounded like he was trying to show off how much he climbs or how much his opinion matters. Really detracted from the video.
