    I'm teaching Robotics at a high school in NYC. Would love the specs on these. Are the chasis 3D printed? Any open sourced code you guys can share. I'd love a sense of where you get your parts and if you have a starter kit idea. Would love to get small drones going with my students.
    Thanks!

      I didn't know that nanometers got smaller.

    • @pappaflammyboi5799
      @pappaflammyboi5799 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You mean bigger in this situation, as the "nano" quadcopters are about a quarter-billion nanometers across, and since just about anything with single digit nanometer dimensions is not remotely visible to the naked eye unless it's emitting "visible-range" wavelengths of light (as opposed to passively reflecting), the title is misleading market-speak. It's 1 part clickbait and 9 parts very cool tech, but whatever...

    Anyone can spy on anyone way too easily nowadays. With this and Google Glasses, I don't feel there's any privacy left on this bitching planet.

    • @Amaroq64
      @Amaroq64 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The NSA is collecting everything that anyone does on the internet and recording anything anyone says during phone conversations and storing it all in a gigantic database for easy referencing. I think people playing with quadrocoptors and wearing Google Glasses are the least of our worries.

    • @paddotk
      @paddotk 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Amaroq64
      No, because out on the streets and in your home is - or used to be - the one place where you do have some privacy. Now you can't even walk anywhere without risking putting your face in Google's database without even knowing it.

    • @paddotk

      And after that, micro death stars.

    • @Amaroq64
      @Amaroq64 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** Why are you worried more about your face being in google's database than your entire personal life being in the government's database?
      What's google going to do to you? Put ads on your searches that are relevant to your interests?

    • @paddotk
      @paddotk 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amaroq64
      1. 'The government' (I assume you mean the USA government) doesn't have cameras on every corner of every street and doesn't make/save profiles based on faces that are seen by cameras.
      2. The government has no interest in advertising and tracking your every move and geographical location, etc., unless they have a solid reason to do so.
      3. Google is and functions globally and litterally has eyes everywhere now, thanks to the Glasses. You might say that, in a way, Google has more power than all countries' governments combined.

    If you've ever played around with these little devices you'd realize that it doesn't take much wind at all to completely destabilize them. Their tiny motors are only so strong and they don't have the power to compensate for strong gusts of wind. Take them outside on a windy day and this experiment would completely fall to pieces.

    What programming language did you use to program the drones to fly in formation, what sensors do they use for the obstacles, are they using an antenna to communicate position so they don't crash into each other or are they using sensors? Lastly how much weight are they able to hold and keep a steady hover ?

    Below is my original post about a few hours ago on a neighborhood site. Quite amazing. The wind was reported at 12mph Westerly at that time, and these were traveling due South. They must have gone at least 7 miles in 4 minutes.
    840 pm sat, at least 60, lighted craft in the night sky, which I first mistook for stars, but noticed them flying overhead and changing formation like an amoeba flew over rather slowly and continued to the south. fascinating. Neighbors also witnessed.

    You don't need quadrotors to guide a bomb to a target, there's laser designation, gps coordinates, the bomb would take a lot of time to arrive and can't hit underground/fortified structures

      +legit name dude yes. I was going to reply to his comment but I never did. I'm thinking the cameras too. Or maybe they use the same concept as gps but super localized. 4+ sensors could tell the exact location of each quad. But the quads orientation would still need to be determined. So maybe it's the cameras after all.

    I should add, I was walking on twin peaks in San Francisco at this evening when I spotted the swarm. It was quite dark, so it was easy to see. I honestly thought they were airplanes and assumed they were at least 7 to 10K feet up judging by their speed relative to me on the ground. But planes just don't swarm like that as far as I know, so figured it must be these flying much lower than I assumed.

    Read Deception Point by Dan Brown published in 1994. In the prolog he states "All technologies described in this book exist" In one of the first chapters, a Delta-Force team is using a dragonfly sized reconnaisance drone to spy on agroup of scientists in the arctic. That was 1994. If the public is being made aware of ground breaking technology with military uses, it's because it is already obsolete. Nanobots are probably not that far off.

  • @ifstory
    @ifstory 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, so how do the quads know their position? Are they controlled from a central computer, or do they have avoidence software...you would have to know your position down to 2r in order to not collide. They are indoors, so no GPS...I figure white sheets were not coincidence, so I guess it could be optical, but you would need to process each one, uniquely identify it, and then position it. Since they all flew at same height, I would guess some type if sensor (Laser, optical). Need answers!!!!
