This is by far the best rendition of Buckaroo I have ever heard, and I do search out the tune.
There are about 20 versions of Buckaroo I have found and none can equal you .
You have an incredible master of this tune.
    Bravo.

This is the best version I've heard of Buckaroo.
You can tell you've played this song a few times...especially when you threw in a guitar solo to boot. Absolutely great playing. I never get tired of hearing this song played.

Just excellent, Don Rich smiles on you from wherever he may be! I recently ran across Buckaroo for the first time in a while and it reminded me how much fun country guitar can be. I've ordered a Hipshot b-bender for my Tele specifically to play the pedal steel part of the song altho I'm sure it will come in handy for all kinds of classic tunes. Thanks for sharing this performance.

I'm with Dan... to seek perfection to exactly play the signature tune as Don Rich played it is like playing a piano concerto like Van Cliburn did... I'm picky and my cousin told me about Tom Brumley since Bryan was atop level pedal steel pro. There was no one like Don Rich outside of a few guys like Glenn C. and Marty S.

  • @blackdogxx

Whew... that one sent chills ... I never saw anybody play it better except Don Rich. And compared to him 'nobody is worthy' (Wayne's World geek quote).
This fellow can pick! And I know some players, including my cousin in TN who was one of the top pedal steel players for decades in the country music business.

Encore bravo.

Patrick, I have watched this song played at least a 100 times by a dozen guys and have reached the conclusion that yours is the best version, even better than Don Rich himself. It's the steel guitar improvisation and the harmony of the melody after 1:37 that makes it for me. Nice pickin.

Ken Chambers is very close; Don Rich was a legend and was a better singer than Buck Owens. But Patrick's rendition of this song is the best I ever heard aside from the Buck Ownes 'Live At Carnegie Hall' album long ago

Yes, I have to agree. Integrating the B-bender into the piece is a great starting point for anyone with a string bender. (I have an Ibanez Iceman with Bigsby B/G Palm Pedal, and I plan to study your video a lot).

    Hi
    Thank you for your comment.
My Tele is equipped with 2 benders, on the B and G strings.
For each tune I record, I usually try to find a Backing Track already done but when I do not find I look for a midi file well done on which I try to get the best sound possible, then I add one or two rhythm guitars. Half of the backing tracks I used for my posts on TH-cam are made from midi files (Buckaroo, Apache, Orange Blossom Special, Yakety Axe, Counterpoint, etc..)
