    Are you planning to take a sabbatical? What are your reasons for it and what are you planning to do on your time off?

    If everything works out, I have a sabbatical planned for next month until the end of the year. I don't like the nature of my job or the fact that we are required to return to the office soon. I could use a break for mental health and clarity. I want to get into shape, learn Spanish, and become a great cook!

    I'm just coming out of what turned out to be a two-year sabbatical. There are lots of good points here that I wish I had come across when starting.

    I’m planning to take. 3-6 month sabbatical to recharge. I have severe burn out and mental fog…annual leave just won’t give me the break I need. So I have 3 more months to come up with a plan and this video is quite helpful! Else I would’ve easily spent weeks on my sofa scrolling through social media and binge watching shows. Interesting perspective you’ve brought on having a list of goals I aim to a achieve on my sabbatical…. Note to self, perhaps I should consider a social media detox during this time.

    I'm taking a 6 - 12 month sabbatical. I live in Romania as a missionary and got burntout under abusive leadership. The sabbaticl jsut started one week ago and I am struggling a bit with developing a good plan and routine. The video did help thanks!

    This was helpful. My sabbatical starts next week. I will try to do a full social media break for at least two weeks while also severely limiting any screen time before noon. I also like how you broke things up (a time for rest followed by a time to create)- This reminded me to do the social media/screen time break. I will outline my creative goals during this time as well as get more sleep.
    Lastly, I added the 30% to my monthly budget, and seeing the view you have reminded me that I may be able to afford some small getaways due to the 30% padding I've added.
    Thanks for the tips.

    Thanks Hanna, I decided to take a sabbatical. All being well I intend to break in September and will be using the time to save toward the break, thankfully I have some savings so this has given me something to look forward to!! My parents are elderly, I have been trying to write, I will travel and generally slow down

    Your video was extremely informative, thank you! You also have a very soothing voice :)
    My sabbatical won't start any time soon, but I really want to learn about writing, and write my own book. I also want to take a month of vacations in a cheap wooden cottage near a lake, if I can afford it, but that's extra and I don't mind cutting it off if I realize it won't work out.
    However, I am worried about how it'll affect my work performance when I come back, as it's a competitive industry that requires being up to date with softwares, and writing doesn't have much to do with it. Although I like it and do not regret working in that industry, I'm not really sure that I want to keep working that kind of job for the rest of my life. However, I have not a single idea what I could do for a living instead... I'll probably need to reserve some time either doing volunteer work/trying part-time jobs or following an online course related to my field of work. This choice really makes me nervous, tbh.
    (sorry for bad english, it's not my first tongue)

    thanks for the video, that was insightful and well-structured! i have a small q: why you've decided to work w/ the coach instead of psychotherapist on your mental health?

    • @hanna_flores_life
      @hanna_flores_life  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      During the past few years, I've actually worked with both but during that specific period, I worked with the coach because I've experienced his techniques earlier and I felt it was something that I can benefit from. He developed his own method that is all about working with the subconscious mind and I had a great experience working with him. After the full-scale invasion started in Feb 2022 I also worked with a traditional therapist for a while.

    I can take a year sabbatical, no problem. My bills are all covered and I don't have any kids to support, so all is good on that end. The only thing that concerns me is getting back into the workforce after my sabbatical, specifically the motivation part. How do you get motivated again after a year of traveling, sightseeing, and enjoying life? I'm afraid that I will become so set in my ways, and I will probably develop a major attitude towards any employer and their work related demands.

    Whether or not you can take a sabbatical leave for a few months depends on the field of your work.
    What if you work in tech? Any time off where you are not in your field looks bad on a resume. The perception is that you may be losing your skills the less you apply them in a work setting. The more months out of work, the worse it looks on a resume.
    How can an intentional break (or sabbatical) be done, and explained positively on a resume?

    • @hanna_flores_life
      @hanna_flores_life  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      IMHO it depends on what you will be doing during that time and also it depends on how you talk about it. It always come back to storytelling - explaining how every situation made you a better person, specialist, leader. Maybe you took some time to travel the world and it allowed you to challenge yourself in new ways and realized something about the world and why you are doing what you are doing in your professional life, maybe you had some time to recharge and now you can get back with new energy and motivation, you can also take some time to study a new skill, develop something in your professional field or take a course on corsera for example...

    This is too conservative a view. I'm self-employed with no kids or family, so most of this is not applicable.
