I think it's great that the movie reviews on this one are positive. The directors are from Belgium and did some great things here and this was their first big hollywood debut. As a (little) Belgian we easily get excited each time our tiny country is mentioned and this makes us so proud :D

In my opinion: I loved every action sequence from Bad boys 2 compared to this one. It seems to still hold up today. The practical effects, explosions, squibs, cinematography, and sound design made it seem like the stakes were much higher. Plus Johnny Tapia was more badass compared to the witch's son

Just saw this movie wasn’t bored at any point throughout it, was laughing hysterically often and even teared up at a few points. Overall one of the most enjoyable movie experiences I’ve had in a while, even preferred this over rise of skywalker
It appears that the makers of BAD BOYS FOR LIFE took notes of what people didn't like about BAD BOYS PARTS I & II and tried to fix them. It's not 2 1/2 hours long and the audience is actually allowed to enjoy what's on screen, because editors Dan Lebental and Peter McNulty and cinematographer Robrecht Heyvaert know how an action sequence should be presented. Also, instead of relying on only 1 (yellow) or 2 colors (orange & blue), multicolored neon lights are present in many scenes (they're even attached to the vehicles during car/motorcycle chases). Many shots look good, and some of them showcase impressive camerawork. Do you remember when Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett (the protagonists) harassed Reggie (the boy who wanted to go out with Marcus' daughter), which left critics and audience appalled? He appears again, but they all get along. Unfortunately, 2 hours is still not a justified amount for this plot, the humor is still hit-or-miss, and Martin Lawrence's performance is more over-the-top than ever. Without getting into spoilers, the climax involves a place on fire. The characters don't cough due to the smoke. Not even once. There's another cop named Rita Secada. Mike says he used to go out with her. I thought that she was supposed to be the psychiatrist that he slept with (the one who called him papi). There's a scene where they talk about emotions and Mike asks her not to psychoanalyze him. I asked the friend I saw this with if it's possible for a psychiatrist who works for a police department to become an officer and he said that it's allowed. Also, it would be another form of course correction (turning an objectified character in a kind-of misogynistic franchise into a strong woman). Alas, she's a new character. She's the head of a team that consists of younger cops played by recognizable actors. I assumed they would either be revealed as villains in disguise or that Marcus and Mike would pass on the torch to them for the next installment, but none of that happened. In fact, they weren't really highlighted in the marketing. That's something a blockbuster with an R rating would normally do to make sure the 18-25 demographic would buy tickets (not having a PG-13 rating is already seen as a risk). Yes, Will Smith is still a big star, but Martin isn't, and 17 years is enough time to make an I.P. lose its appeal as a brand. However, their strategy still resulted in a box office hit. 5/10
Had the privilege to see it at a Sony premiere the other night for the Sony crew as a friend invited me to go see it. Not bad. I think Martin Lawrence was hit and miss with his jokes in the first half. But when the jokes were about the "Witch" he was on point like his old self.
Saw it last night, loved it. It was better than the prior two IMO. They acknowledged and dealt with their middle age in a funny and realistic way. I hear complaints about the action but I found it sufficiently entertaining. The plot takes so many unexpected twists and turns it makes up for any lack of action.
Bad boys 2 chase scene on 395 in Miami was amazing. However, if you live down here in Miami... Like do and at the time they were filming, that was a pain in the ass. That highway/bridge is one of 2 that connect Miami's mainland to south beach and mid beach. Imagine for 2 or 3 weeks shutting down the Brooklyn Bridge. Yeah, the traffic here was unpleasant.
One of the best and most memorable movie villains of all times is without a doubt Hans Gruber....because the great Alan Rickman portrayed him perfectly.
Bad Boys is a perfect example of " star wars prequel syndrome". They aren't that bad but It was trendy to hate on them so everyone did. Its trendy to hate Michael Bay so people shit of the Bad Boys movies. But 2 especially...I mean what else do you want in an action movie?? Looks great, sounds great, high octane, great leads, memorable villain. Its one of the best action movies. Made in a time where we could still have that thing called "FUN" and you could laugh at the expense of everyone. Blacks, whites, gays, straights, Cubans.

I've actually never seen these movies. I've heard about them a bunch in Michael Bay's commentary tracks for Transformers movies, but never actually took the time to hunt down a copy to watch.
This is def not the last ride 😉. I see a BB4 in the near future with both of them riding together even in their 60’s and onwards 😂. The series is never ending ...

This was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Martin Lawrence is everything Kevin Hart tries to be. There is a difference between trying to be funny and actually being funny. I saw a free screening thinking it would be terrible and it was so FUN. Summer fun in January.

Just saw it in an IMAX theater. It gets you on the edge of your seat less than 15 mins in. There were quite a few good comedy scenes too. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was better than number 2.
@L AE I agree. I didn’t expect it to be THAT good but I was surprised how relatively fresh the movie looked even though it’s a part of a franchise with 2 installations. You can tell they really took their time on this one, rather than them just rushing out another cash grab like most of the other movie series do. I definitely got my money’s worth.

Michael bay is like a drunk friend at a party. He's destructive and will give you a visual blur. But he is necessary for a good time so in my opinion, this deserves, a good time when your drunk.

@C W Being led by women doesn't mean its woke. Films like the Black Christmas reboot that literally put politics before plot are what people that call stuff woke are referring to. Sadly, they're now often led by a minority (which somehow is a term often applied to women as half of the population) and it created a trend that people have noticed, especially in major studio productions of recent years. People have been enjoying movies with characters that aren't "cis white males" for a long time, but most of those were at least remotely subtle in their messaging with a good narrative structure and entertaining characters. As far as the movies you just referenced. Those were both made by James Cameron who had a heavy hand in Alita, another female led movie, that despite some moderate shortcomings was overall very well received by audiences. Yet it was crapped on by many major media outlets for problems related to "wokeness" including the main character being "too sexualized." Was @Scene Maker's comment really necessary since it hadn't been specifically brought up? Not really. But it was at least relevant to the Terminator movie in the comment they responded to, and it expressed their frustration with modern cinema. Art is often intended to cause an emotional response so it is easy to get riled up over it, but next time I would suggest you slow down and consider your response before jumping to outrage and calling people names. It will help you be happier throughout life.

this movie is so good. It also had some really cool action shots, especially during the final act. This is my favorite one in the series and I hope we don't have to wait as long for Bad Boys 4.
Michael Bay action shouldn’t be seen as bad. Sometimes we just need that high-octane, shaky-cam sequence to breath life back into our soulless bodies. I personally think Transformers fight sequences are some of the coolest things in film history. They’re just badass.
Most of them are absolute nonsense, where explosions somehow leave sparks everywhere, and you can't see who is who. It's the absolute worst type of action sequences.

There's a lot to love about this movie, but Mike's son killing Captain Howard didn't work for me, considering his son lived and is getting an opportunity to redeem himself. Captain was the third bad boy, always came through for them. This new team AMMO, they aight, but Naw bruh to Armando redemption.
I don't agree with Jeremy in some things. Martin's and Will's chemistry changed and their dynamic is gray and aged. It's not a fun movie. Frazzled, bad villain characters, and the end-twist is completely out there, unnecessary and is a clear attempt at building a Fast & Furious type franchise (also - the more movies they make, the worse they get).

Best BB yet, and it still needed a lot of work. Pros- an actual good villain for once. Some very surprising complex character development, which almost had be liking the film a lot. Has an actual human story. Smith and Lawerence still got it. Michael Bay aside from a pointless cameo had nothing to do with this film. Cons- The action is slow, sluggish, poorly paced, and needed more. The transitions were off making stunt sequences look more staged. For a Bruckheimer production the CGI and special effects were terrible. The first half of the film was kinda boring. It was predictable, I even said, “well that is guy dead” and 2 seconds later they’re sniped. There has always been a certain level of stupid in BB that I thought BB3 would avoid most of it, nope you still have shit like flying a spy drone into a gang meeting just a few yards away.
Fun fact: in bad boys 1 Martin’s name appears before Will’s, that should tell you how big the guy was back in the day..

Bad Boys is a perfect example of " star wars prequel syndrome". They aren't that bad but It was trendy to hate on them so everyone did. Its trendy to hate Michael Bay so people shit of the Bad Boys movies. But 2 especially...I mean what else do you want in an action movie?? Looks great, sounds great, high octane, great leads, memorable villain. Its one of the best action movies. Made in a time where we could still have that thing called "FUN" and you could laugh at the expense of everyone. Blacks, whites, gays, straights, Cubans.
Was an amazing movie. Missed Michael Bay’s action, but an amazing follow up.

This was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. Martin Lawrence is everything Kevin Hart tries to be. There is a difference between trying to be funny and actually being funny. I saw a free screening thinking it would be terrible and it was so FUN. Summer fun in January.

Just saw it in an IMAX theater. It gets you on the edge of your seat less than 15 mins in. There were quite a few good comedy scenes too. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was better than number 2.

You can tell they really took their time on this one, rather than them just rushing out another cash grab like most of the other movie series do. I definitely got my money’s worth.

I just feel the transition in the movie between Mike & Marcus and the "new crew" was so smooth. As well as when both of them were in scenes.
We didnt get too much of the "new crew" on camera or Marcus and Mike. They really balanced it out perfectly!!! Seriously the movie is so well executed in my opinion, i just get so excited talking about it lol

The Island was good and I, like many others enjoyed the hell out of it. Transformers 3 is without a doubt the only 4k movie I play when I want to show off my 120 in 4k projector and 7.1 Dolby Atmos in wall home theater system to my friends. Sadly, they're now often led by a minority (which somehow is a term often applied to women as half of the population) and it created a trend that people have noticed, especially in major studio productions of recent years. People have been enjoying movies with characters that aren't "cis white males" for a long time, but most of those were at least remotely subtle in their messaging with a good narrative structure and entertaining characters. As far as the movies you just referenced. Those were both made by James Cameron who had a heavy hand in Alita, another female led movie, that despite some moderate shortcomings was overall very well received by audiences. Yet it was crapped on by many major media outlets for problems related to "wokeness" including the main character being "too sexualized." Was @Scene Maker's comment really necessary since it hadn't been specifically brought up? Not really. But it was at least relevant to the Terminator movie in the comment they responded to, and it expressed their frustration with modern cinema. Art is often intended to cause an emotional response so it is easy to get riled up over it, but next time I would suggest you slow down and consider your response before jumping to outrage and calling people names. It will help you be happier throughout life.

this movie is so good. It also had some really cool action shots, especially during the final act. This is my favorite one in the series and I hope we don't have to wait as long for Bad Boys 4.

Michael Bay action shouldn’t be seen as bad. Sometimes we just need that high-octane, shaky-cam sequence to breath life back into our soulless bodies. I personally think Transformers fight sequences are some of the coolest things in film history. They’re just badass.
Most of them are absolute nonsense, where explosions somehow leave sparks everywhere, and you can't see who is who. It's the absolute worst type of action sequences.

There's a lot to love about this movie, but Mike's son killing Captain Howard didn't work for me, considering his son lived and is getting an opportunity to redeem himself. Captain was the third bad boy, always came through for them. This new team AMMO, they aight, but Naw bruh to Armando redemption.

I don't agree with Jeremy in some things. Martin's and Will's chemistry changed and their dynamic is gray and aged.
It's not a fun movie. Frazzled, bad villain characters, and the end-twist is completely out there, unnecessary and is a clear attempt at building a Fast & Furious type franchise (also - the more movies they make, the worse they get).

9.5 out of 10. Awesome movie! Old school mixed with new school and the emotional bond between Will Smith & Martin was extraordinarily well done.

Pros- an actual good villain for once.
Some very surprising complex character development, which almost had be liking the film a lot. Has an actual human story. Smith and Lawerence still got it. Michael Bay aside from a pointless cameo had nothing to do with this film.
Cons- The action is slow, sluggish, poorly paced, and needed more. The transitions were off making stunt sequences look more staged. For a Bruckheimer production the CGI and special effects were terrible. The first half of the film was kinda boring. It was predictable, I even said, “well that is guy dead” and 2 seconds later they’re sniped. There has always been a certain level of stupid in BB that I thought BB3 would avoid most of it, nope you still have shit like flying a spy drone into a gang meeting just a few yards away.
