Zayn is INSANELY underrated. Vocally, as a songwriter and collaborator. His collabs with female artists are done so well and his solo music too. Zayn doesn't really promote his music so I don't blame people for not paying attention to him, however they are sleeping on his talent.
Check out Icarus falls it sound a lot like this it’s sooooo good but it’s very underrated bc it’s so long ( 27songs) but what people don’t get is: 1. It’s a concept album he made it to tell the story of Icarus and his lover the sun and how he flew to close to it that he got burned and his wings melted (check the Greek myth of Icarus if you’re interested before listening to the album bc he uses a lot of references and metaphors alluding to the story) Zayn put 27 song bc he thought these were the ones needed to tell his story he didn’t want it to be a mainstream album 2. Zayn doesn’t see himself as a celebrity and he doesn’t care about charts or stuff. If he cared for his albums to chart then they would’ve but he doesn’t and that’s also why u don’t see him do a lot of interviews and beg people to stream his stuff. He said he doesn’t want to feel like he’s forcing his music on people he’d like it more if his fan base grew organically just by people recommending his music to friends bc they actually like it not bc he’s everywhere pressuring people to listen to his music. He just genuinely likes making music and he’s very creative like he sings, writes lyrics& poetry , wrote a book, paints and does graffiti, designs clothes,....... but he only does those things bc he genuinely cares about art. And that is one of the main reasons he left the band. Bc he felt like he wasn’t exploring anything he liked he couldn’t put any input and he was becoming more of a celebrity rather than an artist or a true musician. It’s not cause he didn’t like the band or the boys it’s that he didn’t like being a part of a brand and he felt creatively limited Zayn could be sooo big if he wanted to but he doesn’t and I think also his anxiety also gets in the way. But honestly like this makes me respect him even more and I find it very brave of him that he left the biggest boy band in the world mid tour just to be creatively emancipated. like it takes a lot of courage to do that and he went through a lot in that band for him to finally make that decision which was a very hard one and u can tell he was conflicted as hell in the last days (late 2014/early 2015). Like his whole life that was already planned for him and everything he was ever used to suddenly changed in one day and he was all alone and confused and ofc scared, yet nobody seemed to think of him and people treated him like scum the second he left thinking he was relieved to leave which he wasn’t he even said so and so called fans also didn’t make it any better on Twitter. I honestly admire him so much I just think it’s a shame he’s so misunderstood. So sorry for the long rant I don’t think you’ll even read this but idk why I needed to say it. He even recently release an album Icarus fall without any promo, no interviews, no performances. I feel like Zayn is the kind of artist who just wants to share his art to the world and be heard by many but he does not want the fame and celebrity life style. I don't know him personally but from what I can see he is an extremely introvert kind of person and I relate to him so much. I feel anxiety when I face to many unfamiliar faces, I don't know if he is like that too but Zayn being underrated is his choice because with the talent he have he surely be huge by now if he wants to. i don't think Zayn is underrated, he was pretty big when he released his first album, several songs for big movies, the major issue is he can't do live performances due to anxiety, he did other promotion though, just non-music related, i hope he can do some studio live performances at least, like bbc live lounge, just him with a live band in a small room, won't be too uncomfortable.I really love Dust till dawn and Trampoline, they are my favorite, not a fan of Pillow Talk and I don't wanna live forever...Really hope he's getting all the help he needs with mental health, maybe some new music this year?

I'm a huge fan of both Zayn and Sia, so this song was probably my favorite song released in all of 2017. Love their voices together! You should check out Zayn's song "Sour Diesel" which has this cool Stevie Wonder funk vibe. He really is a jack-of-all-trades musically.
