So I just did my front control arm bushing and used your video as reference but the instructions on powerflex's website say to put the black outer sleeve the other way opposite to what you did. So that's what I did but at this point I'm not sure if powerflexs instruction manual is wrong or you are wrong... But it doesn't seem like it should really change much either way so I guess I shouldn't worry ..
Their instructions differ on whether you do or do not have the large retaining washer that is separate from the bushing. If you just replace the bushing, it's the way you did it; if you add the extra washer, it's the way I did it. I'm not sure if that is intentional on their part or an oversight.
@@350Z247 well fuck.. on their website there is no instructions for the support kit and none came in the package. So I installed mine opposite to you but I do have the support kit.. should I even bother installing the support kit now or am I screwed and have to cut these out and buy replacements..
@@350Z247 just incase you were curious I did more googling on this and called power flex. For some reaons the instructions were not showing up on the mobile version of their site for me at least. After talking to them I was able to get the instructions form the desktop version of the site and it seems like I did it correctly and the tappered end is the end the washer goes on in the instructions. Just an FYI, but honestly it seems like it does not matter too much which way you push the busshing in and I did not get a good explination as to why they tell you to push it in the way I did
@@350Z247 I'd had the same question, but oddly did one side one way and the other another. So to make them consistent (and follow the PF instructions), I used a piece of muffler pipe and a threaded rod, a couple of plumbing pieces and some washers to make a mock press. Worked a treat to get the PF bushing back out. In case anyone needs to make adjustments. Thanks for the video. Very helpful!
Just a note- the control arm bushes you installed are the INCORRECT WAY!! I followed this guide and then realised once the bush was installed that they were infact wrong. the correct installation according to power flex is pictured on power flex's website FYI. albeit a really helpful guide. I did eventually manage to get the bush back out and flipped the other way albeit a massive pain in the ar$e to do !!! thanks
As discussed in the pinned comment, the PowerFlex directions are opposite depending on if you have the support washer or not. Mine are installed the correct way for the set-up that I have.
As for getting out corroded and pressed in parts in the future, there's a penetrating oil called Kroil that is sold on Amazon, I use the Silikroil for parts that need to move after I've loosened them. I worked at a power plant on brackish water and that stuff was the only penetrating oil we would use (WD-40 and PB blaster is amateur hour). If that didn't work it was torch + Kroil time 😅. Great video, I bet you're loving how the Mini feels now! A buddy of mine replaced everything with heim joints on his S and the vibration was barely noticeable but he had really good coilovers.
I've been saying that for two years. My mechanic hasn't taken the bait. Mainly, I think he realizes that he is going to have mini parts spread out all over his shop, which is not organized. So, it's gonna be me. And, I've got bushings now that are gone!
If you're going to use zip ties, see if you can get some Panduit Halar zip ties. They won't get brittle and break anywhere near as fast as those standard black UB resistant ones.
I would say a solid weekend. If you're quick and have all the right tools, you could get it done by Saturday night, but I'd budget Sunday for something to go slightly wrong. It's a lot, but it's manageable.
Hey how’s it going man love your videos wanted to ask you some questions I tried searching you up on ig but can’t find you any chance you can give me your ig

@@FingerBoardSnap Excellent work! I haven't had a problem in 3 track days and like 20K miles, but I pinned this for people in the future

@@350Z247 yep realised this now. Great video non the less 👍🏼
Thanks for the video man, glad I saw it before buying powerflex engine mounts!
This was extremely helpful and thorough, thank you.

I will definitely have to order some of that for stubborn bolts. Much appreciated!
Will be doing (or getting done somewhere if I chicken out😂😂) mine this year at some point 🥳🥳🥳

Do you have to put those big washers on front lower arm?
You deeply regretted using the black insert in the engine mount or installing the poly alone by itself?
I wouldn't touch the engine mounts at all. I should have just sold it off. Zero performance benefit for an annoying vibration.
How long do you think it took to do all the bushings, front and rear. Trying to budget out some time for myself

Thanks man. It's just 350Z247. There should be a link to it on my About tab on the channel.
