    The yellow looks good surprisingly enough. I like the idea of extra visibility

    My scales were pretty scratched after about 20 years. I replaced the red with black….Sweet!

    The 3D printed burnt orange scales are fire! Really love that shade and the improved visibility for those times when you need it is a welcome feature.

    Warm up the scales with a hair dryer (or warm water) before removal and mounting!
    Heat makes the Cellidor softer, and the scales come off with less damage (so they can be reused better), and it's a lot easier to press them on properly when they are warm.

      Awesome idea - not sure why I didn't think about that. For anyone else reading this - Try this before implementing my c clamp method. Thanks for the tip!

    Thank you for your demonstration. Often, I have wondered what the technique for is removing the scales.
    Oops, at 7:18 you said add a flint. Actually, it is adding a ferrocenium rod, a.k.a. ferro rod. Recall, flint is stone used as a striker on another rock or high carbon steel. It is the ferro rod or steel sparking not the flint. Yes, anything hard and sharp scrapped on the ferro rod or high carbon steel, will cause both to spark.

    It would be nice if the scales had additional storage or capabilities. I saw someone modded their SAK to hold a high strength string and a fish8mg hook inside the scale. If it was slightly thicker, you could add a small ferrocerium rod or other item.

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an interesting idea, I think I've actually seen that mod before too. If you are looking to add a ferrocerium rod check out Mini the Fireant or Firefly made by Tortoise gear. Might be something you'd be interested in. They are 2 mini Ferro rods that are made for swiss army knives - Cheers!

    Can you buy a scale for the victorinox 580? Its 65mm and u can only find 58mm scales. Please help

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a tough one, you can probably find some custom 65mm scales but note that they roughly cost the same price of a new 580. I have seen some metal ones before but not many make them and I cannot recall seeing any stock Vic in 65mm.

    I have 2 rangers, both red, I'd like to change the scales on my newer one, do most new scales come with the needle hole (under the corkscrew) plus is it possible to get scales for it that will take a pen, or do you need to have a knife that already holds a pen?

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes most new scales come with the needle/pin hole and also yes, the plus scales have a pen slot. If you look on ebay you'll find some seller that will sell you a package deals with everything, mico tools and scale. good luck

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I fucking hate victorinox' snap-on celidor scales. Even if you do warm up the scales they tend to age like ass and come off 2-3 years after the scale upgrade.

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try a little super glue. Super glue is brittle and if you use a little in the rivets they’ll usually allow for removal if needed. Cheers
