    The sheath is pretty secure. I gave my wife,(night shift nurse)one of these. It rode on her keychain for years. But unfortunately came out and is gone forever. I am looking to replace it for her. I would suggest neck carry, not keychain. But I know that keychain is the only way she would actually use it. Great little piece of kit

    I love the pliers, but I really don’t like the perpendicular phillips head… I think I’d prefer the Cybertool M with the whole driver head suite, but it does start to get rather bulky. I’d like one with the standard in-line phillips/LED light with pliers, and maybe even the package opener from the new Companions 🤙

    The Waiter is one of the most underrated knives. Great value for money. Fantastic tool-to-layer ratio. I’ve added a pin, mini screwdriver and a Quattro screwdriver which cost, all in, £25. I also want to add a Jetsetter to give me some scissors and the mini combo tool. That’d put it up to around £40.

      I haven't used it much for a keychain. I wouldn't trust it if you pulled your keys out of tight pockets. It's pretty solid around the neck. It would be nice if the scales had additional storage or capabilities. I saw someone modded their SAK to hold a high strength string and a fish8mg hook inside the scale. If it was slightly thicker, you could add a small ferrocerium rod or other item.

    • @BernardoBerndsen

    I’ve been using a wood Huntsman as my EDC for the past 9 months. I mainly use the large blade, scissors and cap lifter. I’ve used the awl for removing small stones stuck in the tread of my boots. Curiously, the saw blade came in handy for cutting open small crusty rolls in our hotel room each day whilst we were on holiday! The only short coming I’ve found is that there are times when I’ve wished it had a proper Philips screwdriver for replacing batteries in the kids toys. I received my Deluxe ST Damast LE today. It is a beautiful knife, very similar in size to the Huntsman. Some might argue that is a collectors item and too good to use, however I plan to use it as my EDC and enjoy it for a while to see if it can take the place of my Huntsman. Thanks for the video, it was useful to hear your thoughts on the two knives side by side.

    EDC criteria: SAK and/or multitool carried on jeans pockets only. No holster or any other external bag. After trying several times to EDC the Huntsman, keep coming back to my trustee Camper w/suspension clip and corkscrew firefly on right front pocket. I added a G. Dime in the small front pocket adding the light duty pliers and scissors. Though on replacing the Camper with SAK Climber (loose the saw) or SAK Compact (get the pen but combo tool too fiddly). Although is rarely used you can not beat the saw capability. Next improvement: Adding plus scales to the Camper. PS: I consider the 3D Phillips overrated as per its location on the tool and the rare scenario of recessed screws.

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen ปีที่แล้ว

      Right on! I agree with your thoughts; for me the climber with plus scale is hard to beat and personal I think is a better setup than the compact. Thanks for your comment! 🍻

    @ricdonato4328 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for your demonstration. Often, I have wondered what the technique for is removing the scales. Oops, at 7:18 you said add a flint. Actually, it is adding a ferrocenium rod, a.k.a. ferro rod. Recall, flint is stone used as a striker on another rock or high carbon steel. It is the ferro rod or steel sparking not the flint. Yes, anything hard and sharp scrapped on the ferro rod or high carbon steel, will cause both to spark.

    Didn't a lot of boys get their first pocket knives when they joined the Boy Scouts and the Swiss Army Knife was the one that the Boy Scouts either gave as a reward, ( maybe for reaching a certain level, or having a certain number of patches). But I believe that was one of their biggest boosts for U.S. sales and popularity. But I also heard it was because of exposure to them in WW II . Any thoughts?

    • @BernardoBerndsen
      @BernardoBerndsen ปีที่แล้ว

      I never made it to Boy Scouts but I think that would be a really cool idea as a reward or gaining a certain level. The huntsman would be my choice of gift for scout hands down! And yes it's popularity gained in the US from the soldier bring them back from the war. They were popular all over Europe especially in Germany and France from my understanding and Switzerland of course. It's the quality that stands out, Victorinox didn't invent the multi tool knife, they just kind of perfected at the time, their Victorinox Stainless Steel was unique to them at the time as well and they were built to a high quality. I bet many of those that came back from the War became Scout leaders or had children and inevitability wanted to pass down something familiar and trustworthy. If I'm not mistaken I think Victorinox even does some collaborations with Boy Scouts and produce some knives with their logos and such.
