Cheers ! Your efforts to make this video, and its quality, simplicity, clarity made it possible for me to complete a project...I could not quite figure out how to lay out the cone....you saved the day ! THANKS
Thank You for the excellent explanation! I created a cone with a 24 inch base, 10 inch height, 1 1/2 top opening. While the drawing turned out considerably larger than yours because of the larger dimensions, the pattern turned out perfect using your method and instructions.
Thank you for sharing your video is the first one I watched. I want to make the shape of a cone out of metal for a project I started, but realised I have to make a cone shape first out of sheet metal.
I think I understand how you do this cone layout. How do you determine the right length of the shaped segment without overlapping the two ends? Much thanks.
If you draw a half circle at the base, that same divider distance will then divide a quarter of that circle into three even spaces which makes it twelve for an exact pattern. Good vid.
Hi, I'm a bit confused, making a cone shape, but a low cone lets say a flat view of 300mm diameter across the top and 352mm diameter across the bottom, I do the sweep with a compass to get the arc, once I do the calculation of 3.14 x 352 = 1,105.28 when cut out and joined the diameter at the bottom of the cone is way too short, what am i doing wrong?

You didn’t show us the calculations for the diameter

How about large diameter pipe cone sir, example. 2.5 m. x 1.0 m Wide. Is it same procedure to lay it out in large steel plate?
That knife position makes me uncomfortable every time his hand moves
