A relaxed mindset does so much for your game. Knowing you could take a mulligan obviously did something great for your swing and your putting. I noticed when playing a fun scramble a few months back that I was hitting the ball so well, and figured it was because I was more relaxed knowing if I missed someone else could deliver a good shot for the team. So much of the game is mental -- which is what your videos convey so well.

Hole 5; 529M. Driver, goes 236m. 2nd Shot, 3W, goes 218m. 3rd shot, SW, goes precisely 75m to 3 feet. 1 putt tap in. Easy birdie, easy life. Love your breakdowns on how you play Gen. You make it look so simple, and so elegant.

Becoming my favourite channel because you're a pro talking through your mindset whilst playing. 7 birdies in 9 is insanely good. I shoot between +17 and +30 and today i hit 6 pars in a row. 8 pars 1 birdie in the round. I felt like a god coming off there even though i still shot 87.

i think you got it right. It seems to be our mindset and focusing on the best shot we can hit...including missing on the "good" side if you do miss a little. Of course, you are putting lights out which helps! Learned a lot from this.

Love what you said about limiting yourself. It makes sense now. Ive been playing for a year a about 2 months ago I set a goal to break 100 and once i did it 3 times in a row I did the same to break 90. And when I break each score it was only by 1-2 strokes. Last week I told myself I wanted to shoot for 85 and sure enough I broke it this weekend. First video I’ve seen and loving the words your preaching 👌🔥

@@GenevieveLingGolf perhaps this is my weird way of looking at things but I break it down like this. Talent separates a good golfer from an average golfer. Practice separates a great golfer from a good golfer. A superior mindset separates an elite golfer from a great golfer. All that being said, I will defer to your knowledge and experience because this is your area of expertise. :)

  • @ahbalone

15:27 Ms.Ling, very nice re-putt after adjusting aim to the left edge. To hit chips and short pitches around the green less fat, you might try 90% weight on the left side and no weight shift. With your athletic ability and precision, you will only get better! You have the type of beautiful swing that enhances the quality experience of our great game. Can't say the same for Bryson's wood-chopper looking move, but his ball flight makes up for it.

Brilliant approach for learning how to play golf. Not many people have the intuition for this type of self discovery. I once had 15 shots at birdie in one round and they were all under 12 foot putts. Unfortunately, I only made 5 putts but had one ace. Could not to this day understand how I could have been so right on that particular time. GBG NO EDITS.

Genevieve (Gen). It is a very interesting experiment. Why you played so well is that you have the comfort of knowing you could replay the shot. You were also playing one shot at a time. You had long since forgotten about what might be happening on even the hole, just one shot! I like the same idea with par golf. You are going to find out what is really holding you back. A really good thought experiment. I think you have hit a rich vein of videos that examine what is really holding you back, tough replicate with say football or tennis, but golf offers these bizzare opportunities.

Great round of 7 birdies in 9 holes! i think one of the reasons it turned out so well (apart from luck) is you had no pressure (because you knew you had mulligans if you missed, no one else around) and great course management (you gave yourself the best chance to make a birdie on each hole). Hope this pays off for you in your next tournament, Gen. Good luck!

I agree totally about expectations. I often think the lower my expectations are the better,
A good example is a recent bunker shot. I was so close to the side of the bunker I had to stand outside it, the ball was 40cm below my feet, on a slight down slope.
My only thought was 'If I get out I'll be doing well'
I got to about 7cm from the hole.
