Favorite birds to watch after it rains. Especially if it gets real bright out after the storm!
They're little bullies, but they are fun to watch and listen to.

I think the bullying part just makes them more interesting. And I say that with the knowledge that are native to US and not invasive so they’re not like destroying the ecosystems. I support them even if they are jerks but most of the smartest birds are

Absolutely LOVE grackles. I love it when they visit our bird feeders in large numbers. Love their sounds and antics. Very intelligent birds, similar to crows which I absolutely adore as well.
Thanks for posting this great video.

Not what I would say a popular but, they're birds and when they come by my yard in huge numbers every year, they get fed too.

These birds are very intelligent...like crows and have very many vocalizations with each other if you listen to them. They talk to one another! It's very cool. Crows and ravens are my favorites but grackles are pretty cool too.

Had a Grackle migration come through our yard a couple months ago. Hands down the most epic animal experience I've ever witnessed. I wish I had taken a video but my adrenaline was way too high and I didn't want to go get my phone and miss something! Them passing through our yard took a solid 20 minutes. I am guessing wildly to be fair here, but they were in the tens of thousands probably. They were on the ground, they were in the trees, on the edge of our house and the neighbors'.
I noticed something very peculiar during the event though. There would be a group in the air and a group on the ground and I could be reaching here, but it truly seemed as though the birds in the air (trees, houselines, etc) were acting as a lookout while the ones on the ground pecked around. Then 20-30 seconds later, every single bird on the ground would fly onto something or away, and the birds from the air would then all descend to the ground and be replaced in the air by more birds. So crazy

Does anybody know the grackle that makes whistling sounds and screams like a girl? There are many where I live but I can’t seem to find any information at all about them.

Yes, I know that but I never witnessed it so I could film it.

I wish I could film them where I live but these birds are constantly flying back-and-forth and the ones that stand still are either hiding up in the trees or all the way up in the highest lamp post so it’s hard for me to take any video of them.

I just witnessed a common grackle killing a robin’s nestling, (and the parents were attacking back I’m sure) poor thing.
