    Have the same pit with the exception of my firebox upgraded to 1/2” steel.
    Love this frigging pit!

    Great video! Thanks, had never seen anyone apply Crisco as you did, always the spray on cooking oil. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

      Glad you enjoyed it. You can use any type of cooking oil. I like a heavier oil layer than you can get with cooking spray.

    Awesome video! What about Colder Temps in the mid west with snow. Should it still be covered?

      Thanks for watching! If your smoker is going to be exposed to snow for long periods of time, yes I would cover it, put it on a patio, under the carport or in the garage if possible. Be sure the smoker is clean and all the ash has been removed and the racks are oiled before storing.

    Hello, I have an older Klose smoker that is still fantastic! I was wondering what your thoughts are for oiling the outside of the pit instead of respraying it black. The firebox gets some surface rust on it and i retouch it with paint. Would it hold up better if the outside were seasoned? Or would it just create a dust and dirt magnet.

      Sorry I missed this comment. Oiling the outside creates a dirt magnet. After you touch up the paint , spray the top of the Firebox with a light coat of Cooking Spray just before you light the pit. This will help the paint last longer and the oil with be gone by the time you finish cooking so it won't leave a mess.

    Do you guys suggest doing a season on the outside of a BBQ Pits by Klose smoker? If so how and would you consider a video on that as well?

    • @KloseBBQpits
      @KloseBBQpits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do not season the outside of the smoker.

    Now can and would you do this to a smoker that’s older and has been used? I have one that I bought from someone that’s designed like this

    • @KloseBBQpits
      @KloseBBQpits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If I bought I used smoker I would pressure wash it inside and out, light a small fire it to dry it out and then do this after it's dry to re-season the smoker.
