I'm not too sure. I don't have Metro. I only bought BF5 a few days ago, so seeing Nvidia bring out this DXR compatible driver was definitely a surprise!
Really slow since Exodus uses a much more hardware expensive techniques called Global Illumination , meaning more rays to shoot and calculate . I say if battlefield is around 50fps then Exodus would be half of 50 or even less
Dropping down to 1080p medium preset with DXR on gives me just under 60fps, dipping down in busy areas. So not too shabby for a last gen GPU like my 1060!
Let's just say the 10 series are capable of running rtx on , just not game ready as the RTX series since the RTX series are mainly advertised for having super cool Tensor cores that accelerate machine learning ( like DLSS ) and RT cores to helps accelerate light ray calvulations.
@@darkbendover No,they look exactly the same. The difference is that your fps will be much lower with your gtx card. So,to compensate it,you may have to lower the resolution or the graphic settings .
I believe that DXR works on all graphics presets, but obviously as you decrease the settings, the quality of DXR reflections will also take a hit. That's my thoughts anyway! :)
More than anything ray tracing will depend on the scenario, for example on the map I played in the gameplay there, there are not too many situations where the reflections were visible. Things like water reflections and the flash of explosions off the gun barrel are very visible at times so make sure you look closely! :)
There not much they can do about it ... Feels amazing just to see it runs dxr that good on a pascal 1060. No rt core = no boost performance on ray tracing
@@jimraynor8640 thanks, turning down to Medium preset with DXR on helps the performance a fair bit, but it is obviously not comparable to when DXR is off, and 90+ FPS can be achieved even on Ultra settings. I guess what we have to do here is manage our expectations. The GTX 1060 was produced a long time before DXR was being implemented into games, and it's obviously never going to be as powerful as the 2080Ti for example which has special memory dedicated to improving Raytracing performance.
I could see myself using this in single-player, but not multiplayer. How is the performance in Metro Exodus?

20-25 FPS
i found best way to get fps boost is to drop to HD resolution (720p) on metro atleast, but it's still impressive to run RTX on non specified hardware.

I expected less performance. What are your specs?
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X (OC to 4GHz), GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM

do i need something more like updated to the lastest bf5 with 60gb patch, win10 1809 to enable dxr?
You need a gtx 1060 or higher and Nvidia today's new drivers.
@@whiskhot and that's it? i can test with my gtx 1080. it's just that my windows 10 is 1703 and i use bf5 1st version without patches.
@@darkbendover You have to have Windows 1809 and Nvidia 425.31 drivers.Ballefield also needs the rtx patch he was given...

Thx dir the video mate. I also thought the fps hit would be worse but that's not that bad. Doesn't it work with low settings?

Hello ;)
Wchich settings is better?
1080+ ray Tracing Low
1440p Ray Tracing OFF
Settings High
Why put Ultra setting with dxr on ? it does not make sense...
I if I stick
2 pieces 1060
Do the rays scale?
You can't run two 1060s together.
I hate this dxr I have 1060 3gb
Haha everybody said it was a crappy card as soon as it released
i have 1060 3GB too :))) Just wait someone make a customize driver =)))

ahahahahh this is a crap!
What do you mean? The video or the graphics?
It absolutely isn't. Ray tracing is head and shoulders above SSR but it comes with a cost
