i love these cars... i've have one in HO scale its over a foot long and made out of brass..its an early version of the Schnabel car tht was for the PRR railroad..16 wheels total...i am getting a 24 wheel version hopefully soon..great vid!!
The BB in BBCX stands for Brown-Boveri - European (Swiss?) electrical components mfger - merged w/ Asea (Swedish) to form ABB - ABB sold the Schnabel car to Emmert Intl. at some point (prob downsizing).
@trainzrule5 indeed.. bachman spectrum has just realized the 380 schnabel transformer car in HO scale...it come in 3 colors...its over 27.5 inches in length..it retails for $250..to see u u can get the january 2012 issue of model railroader mag...i did a review on the trains in the mag including tht car i'll send u a vid response for it
Interesting train, that schnabel car was HUGE!!!
That's a "special" train. They get a luxury vista dome car near the rear. I love the locomotive colors. Excellent Video work.
Thanks for the video Connor!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cool stuff
The load is heavy indeed, but the number of axles spread that out to be no worse than any other load.
Thanks! Yeah, I hear they will put the transformers on huge truck flatbeds and driven two miles. Thanks for the comment!

Nice video. I've got WAY up close pics and video of this car in Cayce,SC
only if its loaded. But also, on good track it went actually pretty fast. Thanks for the comment!
HOLY COW!!!!! BIGEST AND SLOWEST TRAIN I HAVE EVER SEEN!
Wow really? Thanks for the comment. It is EXTREMELY loud when the heavy car went by.
The coaches were holding a bunch of people, VIPs. Idk what BBCX stands for, sorry! Thanks againg for the comment!
Also - trainzrule5 - killer videos. I'm going to try to get up there Thursday to watch a bit of the transfer to the road-going heavy hauler.

They did stop eventually, but the load is exteremely heavy and wanted to be really careful on that switch.
in romania, the transformers have train wheels and they are moved by rail.....

Were the passenger cars full of tourists, or were they there for crew, etc? Seems like just adding weight to an already heavy train. And who is BBCX?
Ya, they used them as spacer cars.
Thanks! It was very cool in real life!
Why's the train moving so dadburned slow? Is it stopping or something?
Side clearance, and track condition. The Conway Scenic is not a class 1 Railroad with 155lb rail and precision tolerances.
@EMDSD14R Thats cool! I would love to get one. Thanks!
Try having it go by your house, and BE AT WORK, AND MISS IT! it sucked that I couldn't see it personally.
@ph11p3540 Thanks man
Really? Thats cool.
