Excellent microscopic peak back into time. Ah yes, I remember growing up and riding those trolley cars in Philly. My regulars were the 6, 23, 56, 60 and 17 on Market St. Good times, great footage. Thanks for posting.

I want to thank the person who posted this, it gave me goose bumps, what rare footage of the Golden Age of Transportation in Philadelphia! Frankford Terminal, Rt 5, the Rt. 59 Trackless and glimpses of the Rt.52. These clips are a Platinum find! Thank you so much!

The P.T.C. film is circa 1952 to 1953. Note in the scenes of the Germantown car barn, one of the all-electric PCC cars still has a gray roof. And in the scene of what looks like Luzerne car barn, there is an air-electric PCC car with a gray roof. There are shots of the Bridge Street Terminal and the Frankford car barn. Rt. 66 was still a trolley line, with double end 5200 type cars. It wasn't converted to trackless trolleys until 1955. Rt. 3 and Rt. 5 had not gotten the second hand PCC cars yet. They came in 1954. Note, the small 100 series Brill trackless trolley, seen on Rt. 61 Ridge Avenue, still had it's gray roof. That shot might have been taken in front of the old Ridge car barn. But it possibly could have been taken at Allegheny car barn. There was a time that Rt. 61 trackless trolleys worked out of Allegheny. They deadheaded from Ridge & Allegheny to the barn at 26th & Allegheny. I have photos of them in Allegheny car barn and on Allegheny Avenue. I'm not sure of the exact date they were switched over to Ridge car barn.

Anyone else more impressed with that cable supported snow remover?

Thanks once more, tassiebaz! The guy is reading the Sunday comics on the first scene. I barely remember the Sell cars. I was from the western suburbs and 69th St. was "my" terminal, so i don't know the lines that were operating. Can someone help me about the Route 66 trolley at 6:40. Wasn't that line a trackless trolley in the '60s? At 11:18, the quarry: isn't that the quarry that is off County Line (City Line, Rte. 1) just south of West Chester Pike?

I did a little research, and, if this is an NRHS Convention it would have been 1950, but who cares, there's nice shots of my beloved Route 52, about the time I was riding it to school each day.

The box like trolleys from the 1920s almost look like the same ones of the 8000 series Brooklyn trolleys of the same era. They ran until circa 1952.

The chartered car, 5306, was the last conventional car to leave the property. J.F.X. Moore bought it in the summer of 1957 after the 46 went. It sat at Woodland until Dec., 1958 when PTC gave up waiting for him to come get it. There is footage of a charter in the summer of 1957 with 5329. That was his charter. Car had paper tears on the ends.

A more correct estimation of the date would be late 1952 to 1953.

And, as far as the dating: I didn't see a car that I could say was newer than 1952.
