I always love seeing the Niji3D streams. It's so weird because I prefer Hololive's 2D models over Nijisanji's 2D models with how fluid they move, but prefer Nijisanji's 3D models over Hololive's 3D models over how fluid they move.
First of all some time ago Sony either invested or straight up bought Ichikara, Nijisanji's parent company. That might or might not have anything to do with Nijisanji's 3D tech being somewhat more advanced than Hololive's. You can see it by comparing the hand/finger tracking, Nijisanji almost properly tracks those movements whereas hololive likely still relies on VR controllers. On the Live2D side, probably because of the difference of the sheer amount of talents, with each new gen hololive's Live2D get more and more sophisticated than Nijisanji's. See 4th gen and later, and some of the older gens have also been receiving more detailed rigging as their Live2D updates.
