    Adorable apt Congrats! Google translate is also good for translating your conversation verbally as well as the written word if one interacts with a Spanish landlord. Also, if someone does want to do Airbnb to try different neighborhoods at first it is very easy to ask the host if they will rent long term off the Airbnb site. Many will do so. They just don't take any more bookings and rent to you saving themselves & the renter 14-30% markup that Airbnb charges. I look forward to your updates as I will be moving there in Aug.

    Thanks very much for this video. It is very helpful to hear your process for figuring out where to live in Mexico City. You mentioned some factors that wouldn't have occurred to me. I also liked the tour and pros and cons of each apt. I didn't think that this price might be possible for the Condesa area. Very good value compared to other world cities. Quite incredible that it's fully furnished right down to kitchen equipment. Laughed when you mentioned your little flat in Kensington. The apartment you chose has the loveliest rooftop. I'm hoping you're enjoying it in good health. Knowing what info./paperwork that is typically asked for was very helpful as well.

    En esta ciudad existen opciones algo más baratas y bien ubicadas. Recomiendo, por ejemplo, Santa María la Ribera, que es una colonia llena de historia y con muchas opciones culturales, gastronómicas, y más. Se encuentra junto a la espectacular Biblioteca Vasconcelos. Muy cerca está otra colonia interesante y no tan cara: me refiero a San Rafael. Todo es muy céntrico. Ahora bien, más al norte se encuentra la colonia Lindavista, que también te recomiendo mucho.

    HA! I recognized the street corner in the beginning of the video, my last airbnb was on that street. KILLER info as usual, always something new. DEFINITELY gonna ask you for recommendations when I make the move (if you don't mind).

    Congrats for finding an apartment! I think you found it very fast! The apartment seems well located. I hope that the NY woman is not leaving for a bad reason. You got an entire apartment for $600 to $650 USD/month. I don't think that you could find an entire apt in NY, London or any other important city in the world for that amount.

    • @SlowTravelingWanderer
      @SlowTravelingWanderer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! You’re correct. I could never find that kind of price in any other global city. No, she explained she was leaving due to work reasons. I didn’t pick up from her that she was lying. She and the owner has a good convo outside while I toured the apt and they seemed to get along well. I think it’ll be fine. :)

    I thought Mexican professionals like engineers make only about $1000 USD/month. How can they afford a $700/month apartment?

    • @presidentkiller
      @presidentkiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a national average. A lot of people make less, some others like me make more than that. Some rents are really ridiculous, for example, there's a room for rent on AirBNB in a house in La Condesa that goes for 30,000 pesos (1500 USD) a month. Only a fool would pay that kind of money for a room in a house when you could rent the whole house for that amount, maybe not in La Condesa but still in a nice part of the city. Tourists are usually the target market for these places, and since it "looks" cheap to many of them, they end-up making the house owners millionaires just for not knowing any better.
