    Let's start 2024 with a review of one of the first Dutch Trains I knew about growing up and had waaaaaaaaaaay too much fun driving in MSTS. Oh and it was okay in Train Sim Classic too I guess after some mods.

    Bloody hell it's freeeeezing this week! Well I can't help warm you up directly, but hopefully you enjoy this one as much as I did. During the editing of this video, Arriva took over from Keolis and started running GTWs between Zutphen and Oldenzaal, however I have no idea if these GTWs are any different interior wise from previous. I'll take a look at them next time I pass through and adjust this comment then.
    A propane heater with a Calor gas bottle installed (which may or may not be slightly empty for reasons unrelated to the weather) will be sent via Hermes to anyone who can guess all the external locations filmed at!

      I'm going to take a wild guess and say it was filmed in Birmingham (#joke)

      Not a single clip was in Birmingham I'm afraid.

    I've never been on a GTW, my opinions on them were entirely formed by their amazing liveries in Maastricht and somewhere near Rotterdam? I don't know, I was only passing through. Either way, the Limburg and R Net schemes work really well in my opinion, it's a shame about those seats - they do look comfortable.

    • @MaverickHunterDaniel
      @MaverickHunterDaniel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would've been most likely been Dordrecht, though you will see a few stabled in Rotterdam. But yeah, I love the liveries but the seating leaves much to be desired. Though to give credit, at least they don't run stupidly long services, ignoring the overnight one.

    Connex also used to operate trains in Melbourne and also put the same type of seat fabric as the Limburg units on their trains, but instead of having a red background as in Limburg the Melbourne trains have a blue background. The X'trapolis 100 fleet still have this sort of seat fabric.

    • @MaverickHunterDaniel
      @MaverickHunterDaniel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ahhh, the X'trapolis 100! I used to love using that train in MSTS when I was growing up. I can also see what you mean after looking at some interior photos too.

    Travelled on this units while visiting family in Schopfiem, Germany. Very nice trains, at least in my opinion, found the first class area to be a bit useless though, but that might just be because Basel - Zell is fairly short.

    What is it with so many trains having concrete ironing board seats? It's like a very common thing now!

      Thank you! Honestly I have no idea why outside of cost cutting measures. The whole "bad seats are for fireproofing" angle has at least been refuted, especially since in a fire the most dangerous thing and the bit that kills people is the smoke rather than the heat.

    It is quite nice that UK are taking in the stadler model from mainland europe. Just wish they had better seats on the AGA units but i find them quite nice. But i find these units quite cleverly done which also reduces any vibration in the carriages. I noticed the 442s had a somewhat similar design

    We actually have these around where I live in the USA. New Jersey Transit has previous gen diesel units that they use on the River Line service between Trenton and Camden in the Jersey suburbs of Philadelphia. Generally a pretty good service from what I’ve seen, though I've yet to try it out for myself. I guarentee there are no toilets on those trains, but I'm curious how the seats are like.

    • @MaverickHunterDaniel
      @MaverickHunterDaniel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There quite a few GTWs in America, yeah. I'm not as well versed on them compared to the European ones though. I know they exist but not much more than that.

      Oh come on, Arriva aren't THAT bad. I'd rather have them than Diamond Bus South East. Partly because it could mean having decent bus allocations and that the buses would turn up.
