    Normalizing your tracks may not be so cool for quiet or subtle elements. You're fishing around at the bottom of your faders, which aren't very accurate. To each his own. Every technique has pros and cons.

    • @THEdavidschockett
      @THEdavidschockett 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Great point here! Is there any tangible difference between (a) normalizing a particular track and (b) just adding a gain utility to it later? It seems like it's safer to NOT normalize, and then just add gain to individual tracks as needed if they're too soft. Am I missing something?

      @hankjohnson3902 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Importing stems or parts
      Example: Receiving stems or parts from an artist for a remix.
      1. Open Live's preferences to the Record Warp Launch section.
      2. Turn off Auto-Warp Long Samples. This is important to ensure that start markers line up exactly at the beginning of the audio files - even if there's silence at the beginning - and that no warping or audio degradation will occur. Also turn off Create Fades on Clip Edges, otherwise clips with a sharp attack (eg. kicks) will have that attack slightly muted on the first beat:

    Hi, whats's up! Underbelly, thank you so much for these Tutorials, they are very helpful and especially fun. I would like to ask a question to you and to everyone else if you'v got some advice! How do you handle layers when coming to the Mixdown stage? I am referring to those instruments which might be composed by different layers, as it could be a bass sound for example (separated into Low/Mids/High)... do you bounce the 3 different layers into a single track and mix the resulting bass sound with the other instrument or do you keep the layers separated and bounce them to 3 different tracks in order to mix them more properly afterwards.
    Thank for the help.
    Wish everyone a good time!

    Spent hours sifting through other videos and forums, trying to find the "Separate MIDI Event by Note" function in ableton, and not one return. Except here, of course. Not 100% in on the jokey narrative schtick, but fuck man you know your stuff. Bless 🙌🏻

    Hi got a question. always have lots of reverb return tracks coming from drums from early on in track creation. should I get rid of those too before mixing??

    At least drum racks can have effects on each sound in the rack.

    Sucking big time. How do I render stems for mixdown including a few Global automation Tempo Changes? These tracks aren't lining up in time on new live set import. Phenomenal videos btw. thanks.

      Just writing a couple of ideas, never done it myself tbh. You will probably need to setup the same bpm automation in a mixdown set and use warp markers in stems on places where bpm was changed in the original set. And/or I'd also play with 'follower' bpm option on any of the audio tracks where warp markers are correctly set, it might save you some time on setting up that bpm automation (if my idea would work and done right).

    Hey bros. What about return tracks? Should they be included in stems or should they be disabled like something that be better done once again during mixing phase? Cheers

    Regarding bouncing MIDI "into an unchangeable audio track".... has obviously never heard of Melodyne (editor edition and above) ;-) But no seriously, nice video, thank you!
