My new self was the first thing I noticed when I became a Christian. I didn’t have a full understanding of Christianity at the time and didn’t even know that it was scriptural that a change was to take place. I just believed in Jesus and asked Him to save me and He did. Praise the Lord 🙏

      Peaceful Christian ASMR
The change that takes place is that we pass from death to life and are children of God.
Change of actions/desires etc. comes if we mature and grow in grace.
It is not necessary as "proof" of salvation.
      God bless. :)

I had a similar experience as you. I’ve been in church all my life but this year as I began seeking knowledge of Christ, I started to sense the Holy Spirit truly for the first time. And He is life changing. I wasn’t sure if I was a new creation fully just yet or not but I felt different in my spirit and perspective of life. But Pastor Piper phenomenally explained the Lord’s word with awesome clarity.

Hopefully other people can relate but I feel such an internal struggle of knowing the attitudes and actions I should be holding in a moment vs how I currently would be feeling, thinking or acting. I allow myself to be controlled by emotions often times and it grieves my spirit afterward and end up feeling like a complete failure. I know God is trying to just get me to completely surrender to Him. I don't want to be so easily yielded by flesh. Definitely in a wilderness right now and I just pray to be used and molded more.

I can't respond with wisdom and years of experience but I do respond to let you know that you're not alone. God did a miraculous work in my life in September -- I seriously couldn't explain how he turned me away from my addiction to sin if I tried. It was all God. Yet where I am now, I can have a day of complete blessing in the Word or with the believers on Sunday, walking and talking and praising God, and then comes a day like today where it takes me 3 hours to even open my Bible and I can't read even one chapter without falling into constant temptation and distraction. I feel like my prayers and the life of the Spirit are hindered by my complete and utter failure to walk as a new creation. I'm not going to walk away, I want to keep trying, but there is so so much that I don't understand, that baffles me or leaves me trembling.
Let's both keep going, keep seeking, keep crying out even if all we can muster is a faint "God help me!"

Its called *_growing_** .* :) God loves you as you are...and does not judge you by your actions/desires/thoughts...but by the righteousness of God on your account. Hope that helps. :)

Amen! As I was listening to Roman's 9 in LATB, my thoughts turned to these lessons. Those who resist the need to live out the new birth in daily life should give heed to passages cautioning us against "receiving the grace of God in vain", or urging us to "make our calling and election more certain"... more certain than predestination!?! To me it highlights the paradoxical connection between sovereignty and free will. If I choose to stand on "my predestination" alone, to the neglect of ""putting off/putting on", it is not merely indulging in unbiblical thinking, I'm actually participating in His hardening of me. Conversely, by choosing to cooperate with His merciful hand, I confirm my own election. When it's all said and done, the choice is His and the glory is His!

    Ephesians 4:24 KJVS
[24] And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
I like the image that is presented in the definition for the Greek word translated into the English word “on” in the above verse.
    Thayer's Definition
    1. To sink into (clothing), put on, clothe one's self

So are biblical good works only defined as putting sin to death? To resist and hate sin. Or are good works other things as well?

    • @donrussell86
      @donrussell86 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Good works are anything you do in obedience to God by the Holy spirit.

Jesus Said.."Obey My Sayings and Seek My Righteousness First..EveryDay..and I will Give you Everything you Need and I will Deliver you from Evil.". This is Jesus Promise. Jesus is All You Need. And it is not that hard Folks! You will go astray listening to men.
