I love this show, and because of that, I'm now reading the books. It's not that it's a bad series, it's the fact they changed so much without needing to. The books are long and convoluted, so there is a lot they can cut out without losing the story. Keep the main beats and lose the padding. One of the big problems with the books is that a lot of the multi-book arcs don't really add to the story and in a TV adaptation could be dealt with in one episode. I don't even mind them combining minor character arcs into one person. The problem is that some of the most important plot points in later books have been undermined by the changes they have made to the story.
@@adriekeur7429 and gatekeeping fandom isn't juvenile? just because you're unable to compartmentalize your experiences doesn't mean other people can't as well
I take this scene as she is more frustrated with the situation than him. Female channelers cannot teach male channelers and viceversa. They can use the one power to do same or similar things but in their craft of weaving its different. Also, male channelers go mad or die, he is supposed to save everyone and Siuan (in books and I think in the series if they don't change ecerything) tries to help him to achieve this but he has no one or nowhere to go and learn. This scene is good at showing the difference between power and skill. Rand is many magnitudes stronger than Siuan, but she handles him like a child because she's been channeling for many years.
