@@BrettKingman Love that rake at around 0:12 very tasty stuff. All is well here mate, just trying to keep warm haha. 🤣 Edit: I watched it on my phone and didn't see the description! very cool.
I Agree Brett. Stainless steel frets - should be standard now. I do however think these are the Best Noiseless Pickups that I have heard (thus far). Nice tones. Stay Safe everyone.
That humbucker makes it a versatile guitar. Thought it might have a bit more quack going thru the 65. I got a late 90's with the lace sensors still in them. No quack at all. Good wedding band guitar. Nice work Brett. You must have a mean pedal collection
Hi man!!!oredered one , have some questions , ifyou don't use humbuker position, can I get a traditionnal strat sound on the 5 positions??? Isn't the sound too bright and the neck too thin ??? Can I get blues sounds and a certain low end??ALAIN
Brett, would you say that the HSS single coil (alone and split in the bridge pickup position) sound close to a single coil on an all single coil pickup Strat in the bridge pickup position? I'm trying to choose between an Ultra HSS or an Ultra SSS but really want the original 1st position bridge pickup single coil sound and bite. If the HSS can achieve that (when splitting the pickup in the first position/bridge pickup), then it makes more sense to get the HSS, thereby being more tonally versatile. Thanks!
(Later, that same year)..... Finally got the HSS about two weeks ago, and it's the Ultraburst finish with rosewood fretboard. Wonderful guitar! Even the non-locking tremolo stays in tune quite nicely- even with deep bends!
@@JoeSzilagy Hi, I'm looking at the HSS ultra. Goal is to get sounds like alchemy Sultans of Swing, Pink Floyd pulse, Eric Johnson cleans and solos from the FM9 MK II turbo. You get the trend. All while having the option of a nice humbucker. I am confused with all the reviews saying that hot pickup and the split don't deliver that classic strat sound that well and I should get a non-hot pickup SSS. Please suggest man
How’s the bridge pickup on these things for rock and high gain applications? Looking into getting 1 ppl tend to not like the fender humbuckers though. Could swap I’m trying to just buy something I don’t have to mess with for once haha.
Hands down- the ultra series of pickups are the best "noiseless" pickups Fender has released. N1~N4 still have the nylon and flat sounding feeling-- but ultra series actually feels/sounds like single coils. I just bought a Hot set, and they sound great!!!
I gotta say, when you were in position 2 (parallel), which is typically my favorite quack position on the Strat, having the S-1 switch on did not sound as good as when you had it off.
Hi Brett, My name is Paulo, i'm from Brazil. I would like to say that you are one of my favourite guitar players. Actually, right there at the top3. regarding the guitars, do you still have the MM St Vincent one? I really into that guitar. Just waiting to a better moment to buy one of those. Loved your videos with that particular guitar!
So whatcha sayin Burgs? you like or dislike it? i had one.....great guitar but a John Suhr is what a strat wants to be. Honestly a total truth statement in its entirety. Thx as always mate.
I played quite a few Suhrs over here when they were available at my local haunt a couple of years ago. I was ready and eager to be impressed. But I wasn't. They all felt stiff to me. Didn't like them at all. I much prefer a Charvel or Ernie Ball for that sort of guitar but I know Suhr has a serious fanbase so each to their own, I guess. I like this Ultra, though. A lot. I'm looking forward to playing it in so I like it even more.
@@BrettKingman Wow Brett..I have been looking closely at the new Charvel stuff lately so we're right there together! I have soooo much history with the Strat vibe in all its glory that a Charvel just seems the choice for a "variation". I have enjoyed your channel for years now mate. I want to thank you all the time. You are a top tier dude all around. No doubt MANY agree!!! Bless you my brother.
Everything you need in a strat, right there. Love the colour. Lovely playing too! By the way, about stainless steel frets. I wonder if that would preclude some people from being able to work on it? Stainless steel does require special tools. I don’t know if that would be an issue. Just wondering.
Yes, stainless steel is difficult to work with for luthiers I have spoken to and, I would imagine, manufacturers. However companies like Ernie Ball have been doing it for a while. Once I tried them it's very hard to turn back.
@@drippinglass That's good to know. I'd love to work the SS rest, but I think the tooling is the issue with luthiers. It's another investment of yet more tools!
Morning from Virginia USA ! Ultra nice! Fender hit it out of the park on the Ultra Series. Agree on the frets. It seems Fender leaves one thing out they should have done either frets or locking tuners. Not a bad item to trade for I would say. Best to you and yours.
If anyone is selling a set of 5th gen noiseless strat pickups SSS please hit me up and I'll buy them ASAP, lefty trying to build my own Ultra Strat here :/ What an expensive project this'll be...
Best tone on all the ultra videos I have heard
Awesome demo Burgs. I’m digging that cobra blue and you just showed the versatility in this guitar. Thumbs way up. Cheers!
Ah mate! You get to test all the fun stuff! 😄 sounding great Brett!
Nah, this one just came by in a trade, Shane. But I thought I should give it a run anyway. Hope all's well with you.

Everything in 5mins, great demo on this guitar, finally, thank you.
I dig this guitar. The look of it, the full round sound of it. I'm keen on the Ultra series. Great playing Brett. It sounds killer your hands man
Once again, smooth and crisp playing! You're amazing my man!!
Useful to see all the tones
All over it. Anything you play, AAAAA+++++++
