More surprising are the central powers maintaining that 2-front war for so long.

The German Empire turned into the Weimar Republic not according to the Treaty of Versailles, but as a result of the November Revolution

idea: what if Germany was divided up/occupied after WWI, like after WWII (1920's Yalta Conference basically)

That makes absolutely no sense, if we take all factors from this timeline into consideration. There is no reason for the Russians to fight that hard against Germany without Hitler. According to what I know from TTL, Stalin is still in power, so he will still do the purges. So if the war goes like this, Stalin will be overthrown and a peace treaty will be signed with Germany. Greece was nearly down, so they will be overrunned. No balcan front and no east front. Pretty bad for the allies.

What triggered the Allies to go to war with everyone? For that matter, why did the Pact of Rome get involved? Seems like a pretty straightforward defensive war for the Central Powers, fighting against the Communists that the Allies also despise, but all of a sudden everyone's fighting for no discernable reason. Without the Allies and the Pact joggling Germany's elbow, it looked like they would have been able to sweep the Soviets off the map, which would have been a win for pretty much all of humanity.

Yah, I'm wondering this too. I don't see why the Central Powers and Allies were at war? I could see Mussolini maybe doing something stupid to end up at war with the Allies (League of Nations more likely to intervene against him with Germany not in the picture to potentially protect him), or Mussolini wanting Tyrol from Austria and so jumping in when the Soviets attacked... but I still don't see how either of those things puts Germany at war with Britain and France again.
