@SydneyTrainspotter D6251,N5251,N5854,D6808 are on T14 and D6148,N5252,N5804,D6807(which was the last car to get the 2003,2010 and 2014 refurbs I think) is on T121. And yes, only the D68xx/N58xx cars have the intercity seating layout (reversable seating).
I've never understood the attraction... 1. They are really ugly - the pseudo sci-fi look is just silly 2. They don't have reversible seats 3. The cloudy windows - you can't see out but you still suffer from the glare 4. The hardware that operates the doors is really poorly designed and awkward The later designs that fix all these points are so much better. At best the Tangaras were a prototype/transitional design.
@@jack2453 personally they aren't anywhere near my favourite trains but my bias comes from being on the t4 line and not having anything else to look forward to other than the tangaras.
These trains for me will always be a favourite...from the sounds they made...to the not so noisy but understandable announcements...and of course...being air-conned.
they dont even have announcements! they have a lot of problems with noise, especially due to loud air conditioning and gangways that often 'crash' on certain areas of the network e.g. the tracks between Redfern and Burwood. The announcements typically depend on the guard, sometimes it's inaudible and other times the guards can scream using both internal and external speakers. The trains will eventually have to be phased out considering the competition they have against all other trains in Sydney!
And we had a Tangara clone here in Melbourne for evaluation, massive fail, so no DD stock was procured after that. We'll stick with our iconic Comeng sets.
@@converserook7655 impossible as the Tangaras still have life in them unlike the K sets which are simply just too aged for operation. They’re even older than the C sets which have already been retired!
@@TransitSydney yeah i know, it was more of a joke, i only said it because the K sets often run quite well compared to the Ms which have a lot of problems
@@TransitSydney i suppose, but they do have to get the factories up and running to produce the new trains, even if the ttu fails it will take significant time

1:44 T14 and T121 (as seen at 4:43) is an exception to the set number rule, as they have both T set and ex-G set cars on the same set.
ooo really? which cars of T121 has G set cars? wait and how does T14 have G set cars too? so is half the train reversible seats and the other fixed.

They’re so iconic that they even appear in the Sydney Mariokart track

@SydneyTrainspotter Yea...but low-key...as someone who naps on the train...I found tangaras the quietest.

Something can be both iconic and terrible, I guess.
for sure!
They need to lower the air sounds they are really loud!
true
@@TransitSydney Well the new locally built replacements are coming soon. So hopefully the air sounds shouldn't be too bad.
Most iconic? LOL more like most hated.
not everyone in the community hates it, really its the general public
why are they hated so much?
