Exciting exciting! Take your time, and the video will be better for it. I'll be waiting with binary breath!

Editing takes forever, especially when done right. But never doubt there is an audience for deeper, longer videos. I look forward to the results. And best of health and a speedy recovery.

All done now! Yeah I kind of got over my issues with release timing with this project and that really helped get the job done in a much better way than it would have been if I'd released three weeks ago. Many thanks!

Please take your time, yours are the the very few of the retro content creators that are still fresh and exciting to wait for.

Glad to hear you're on the mend. Incidentally personally I'm happy to watch multi-part series if editing to 20ish minute segments is less onerous. But I'll watch long form too if that's what you want to do. Happy to wait especially as it's an interesting subject! There's so many "here's this thing, watch it Hellorld" with not much other meat to it, it's nice to see something a bit more involved and showing actual use of the thing

Yeah this is why I'm torn because splitting it up would get more views and keep the Algorithm happy, but I feel like it breaks the flow. But 44 min these days is long heh.

@@TechTimeTraveller 44 ain't so bad, it's when they're over an hour I'll delay watching till I have enough time to dedicate to it, and even then I might watch in spurts

Take care of yourself! and, may I say... d*mn the algorithm. It gets almost everything wrong. It leads to creators burning out because it treats people like machines, and, with rare exception, it doesn't even make for good content -- _and_ from everything I've seen, it's INCREDIBLY inflexible.
Those deep-dives you mention? Those are an absolute treasure, and I am not kidding. You deserve a LOT more recognition and fame in the retrocomputing community for the documentation you do, than I think you seem to have. You're every bit as valuable to us as Adrian's repair videos. Pick up a little electronics and computing knowledge from him and from BigClive, and you'll have most of the knowledge you admit to missing.
Honestly, the value in your channel is one that I think a lot of people miss, or take for granted. When I'm trying to explain to a non-tech person why I have a working Commodore 64 in the closet, and I say, hey, it's not just about the games, they get really confused. The metaphor I always use is that of those bright glowing map kiosks in shopping malls, because most of us are old enough to remember when enclosed shopping malls were still a huge thing. (A pity they aren't still, TBH, there's a lot of potential there, if done right.) You know, the ones that represent all the stores and such as little empty boxes (or big ones, for the anchor stores) and somewhere there's a bright red arrow with the text "YOU ARE HERE". As I always point out, the bright red arrow only ever tells _half_ the story of one's trip so far -- to tell the _full_ story, you need a bunch of other arrows that say "YOU WERE HERE" in every store you've already been in... and maybe a dashed line to show the path you walked along, from the entrance in, and all that ;3
There's an old phrase in linguistics, in the study of language -- "context is king". A lot of modern-day platforms for communication stress brevity -- briefness -- and efficiency, stripping one's message down to the barest of essentials, shedding context, detail, nuance... even to the point of clouding the meaning, for the simple purpose of not going over a character limit. So much is lost in so many ways by trading in this kind of bumper-sticker missive that it's no wonder people these days have such a hard time communicating!
...and, then, there's videos like yours. Videos that show and tell the why of it, the way things got to be how they are now, or at least some small-but-important part of that. Context.
Your videos are valuable, Tech Time Traveller -- and if the algorithm can't appreciate them, _I_ can -- and that algorithm's needed debugging for a long, long time, as we all already know anyways. Keep doing what you do, and file bug reports ;3

Many thanks for the kind words! I try to add a lot of context because history was my favorite subject in school, I'm a voracious documentary viewer and I just sort of copied that style. And also because I know a lot of people have no clue why a basic looking PCB matters historically. I agree re the algorithm; I do think something changed with TH-cam back in 2022, and it wasn't all to do with people disappearing after the pandemic. Even big channels I watch across different niches - they'll release a video and the views will equate to like, 1-5% of their subscriber base. Before that, you'd see million plus view videos not exactly regularly but much more often than now. I started doing this because years ago I found TH-cam useful as a would be collector - I was able to see machines operating that I never had seen except in pictures before. So I wanted to catalog whatever I had. But then I got into greenscreening and yeah, we get the weird fusion going on now. I really have been trying from the outset not to let view counts, subscribers, etc bother me too much. But it's hard because TH-cam puts all those stats in your face and it's always applying not so subtle pressure to grind stuff out. Worse, it puts the stats of OTHER TH-camrs in your niche, always passive-aggressive like, right in your face.. like 'hey, look at this guy who's getting 10k subs a month!'. You sit there and you're like.. what am I doing wrong? But I know deep down the older content is really niche, it's not something younger people are familiar with, and getting 13,000 views on something you put together on a relatively obscure topic is amazing. Even more amazing is 40 people who are willing to pay actual money every month via Patreon to sponsor it. I try not to lose my appreciation of that. And I think maybe with this video I kind of made my peace with just taking whatever time is required - I'd rather make art than make widgets. I honestly never wanted to do this full time; I don't trust TH-cam as a sole source of income, although a side-gig type deal that earns enough to convince my wife my hobby isn't a total money loser would be nice.. haha. I think I would crack under the pressure if I had a regular schedule and had to dig up content week after week. I'm in awe of the one-person channels that do that, but to me it would be hell. So we'll just keep plugging along, not take on sponsors (unless they offer me $$$$$$$ - got teenagers, they're expensive!), and come what may right? Anyway again thank you for your compliments.. they matter.

@@TechTimeTraveller Thank YOU for taking the time to respond! and what a thoughtful response, indeed...
Honestly, I'd love to make that into 4*1* people on Patreon -- but Patreon is very, very rigid in their billing system, in a way that just won't work for me. I'm actually on Disability (tl;dr my head's a warranty return job that never got returned) and while I have the cash, payday is the 3rd -- by which time if I'm lucky I've managed to scrape by with black ink, BARELY. Patreon pulls on the 1st and absolutely will not deviate, so they'd just pull a bounced check every single time.
Also... the guy who's getting 10k a month? That's Linus Sebastian and I friggin HATE him. No joke. He's a pompous butt and literally everything he puts out is cringe (and I'm a furry, I know a thing or two about that). Not to mention that everything he does is paid for by someone else. Literally his entire channel is sponsored stuff, with an advert on top of the rest right up front for good measure. There's more that's real in Kim Kardashian than in one of his episodes, and quite honestly he needs to shut up and go home.
Or maybe it's GamersNexus, who lost any sort of real credibility when they started transparently moving the goalposts with their "OEM desktop reviews" that basically exist only to trash major brands for making office PCs. They're likewise as real as Pay-Per-View wrestling, and they likewise need to shut up and go home.
Don't be like that. Don't be the guy who gets 10k a month. That guy is universally cr*p. Know who you are and be who you are. That's hard enough as it is, and it's enough for me.
