It avoided retaliating with a lot of force against Hezbollah so far, and not to escalate the already ongoing war due to, again, international pressure. Israel tends to cave to international pressure, which makes it stop fighting. This is the first war after a long while that Israel didn't cave. It avoided retaliating with a lot of force against Hezbollah so far, and not to escalate the already ongoing war due to, again, international pressure. But when they will, judging by the last 9 months, Hezbollah will see a different Israel.
Hezbollah = Iran = Trying to eliminate Israel for about 40 years.
Israel is still here and continues to progress. Iran went back in the last 40 years (after the revolution). Lebanon went back after letting Hezbollah take over their country. Well, to be honest, they started going backward when they accepted the Palestinian refugees from Jordan. Which led them to a civil war, from which they haven't recovered. (You can ask the Christian Lebanese about that)
This war if it will happen, will most likely be heavy on both sides. But Israel will recover fully and still be here in the end.
