Because the only reference I can find showing Nigel saying anything regarding UKIP as vile, is a joke made by one of the candidates, not UKIP voters in general.
The media hasn't talked people into voting for Labour, that's a misrepresentation.
More people aren't voting for labour, less people are voting for the conservatives, by a large margin. That doesn't mean all those lost votes are switching to labour, and thanks to FPTP, Labour could receive the same amount of votes as 2019 and still get a 300 majority.

45 years ago the UK voters bought into the socio-economic & political fantasies of Friedrich Hayek and the various US economics departments ( Chicago School) and the US so called ' think tanks ' funded by wealthy capitalists like the Koch Bros. who saw an opportunity to feast on society through the removal of regulations be it on capital or the environment etc you name it. It's an ideology of low tax ( for the rich), low regulation, low wages , no collective bargaining, financialisation of public goods etc. Rapacious capitalism in other words - few or no constraints on wealth creation and accumulation by the few.
English voters ( in particular) bought into this right wing ideology and we're now paying the price as we see how it's hollowed out the public realm and handed massive wealth to the few.
The forces of capital capture of our societies is so strong that it's next to impossible to counteract it . Look what the rwm did to Corbyn? He was immolated and yet his policies weren't radical at all - indeed they're the norm in Nordic countries. They're much more egalitarian and happier societies for it as well.
We get the political system, structures , constitution that we keep on voting for. It's always the status quo because capital has usurped our democracy. We've ended up with a so called socialist Labour party sounding like the old Tory party! Job done - the dark money behind the Tufton St so called ' think tanks' and the NeoCon Braverman et al party can sit back and think the last 80 years or so of planning and Tory hegemony in order to deconstruct the post war consensus is finally complete. There seemingly is no real opposition to rapacious capitalism in the UK.
Apparently tho' - we can only hope that Starmer will throw the ming vase down and say ' Ha, I fooled you. I'm going to be radical and not make the mistakes Blair & Brown did'.
