Perhaps the seven extra yellow rings with Mandarin are trophies obtained from battles with other yellow ring users who have challenged/opposed him and lost their lives for doing so. He wears them not because they make him more powerful but as a symbol of his power and authority to others.
Man, if Jack Kirby was alive today he'd be really happy with this channel. xD I remember a fan of his once met him and asked him to draw Darkseid and Thor, which he couldn't due to copyright reasons apparently (despite having created it), but these days artists are freer to inspire fans to draw by taking anything and imagining them in any way to create new stuff!
If this had been done in the 60s, you know a lot of covers would mention the "YELLOW MENACE OF THE MANDARIN". And then they would try to change that to something else as decades went by.

Man, I have to show this to my 6-year-old. He is crazy into DC and Marvel right now. He loves the speedsters. At first, Quicksilver was his favorite because of the X-Men movies - but then I introduced him to the Flash, and that was 'all she wrote'. He's probably the biggest Flash fan I know. However, - the other day he was telling ME about all the Green Lantern colors and what they stood for. I had no idea. He makes these line drawings almost every day of DC and Marvel characters fighting bad guys together. Sometimes he uses established villans, sometimes he makes up his own. I think this video would really inspire and amaze him - thank you for being child-friendly with your videos (from what I've seen of your videos so far at least). I think he will love this.

I dont know why..... But watching you draw this gave me that old enthusiasm i use to have about comic books.... I use to love going into comic stores in the early 2000s and looking at all of my favorite characters. Batman and captain america the hulk and green lantern and the justice league and the avengers. Watching this it made me feel like i kid again and i enjoyed the hell out of it. It made me want to start buying comics again.

I've seen transformers fan art along those lines. Megatron as a Red Lantern, Starscream as a member of Agent Orange, Soundwave as a member of the Sinestro Corps and Opimus Prime as a Green Lantern.
I really loved reading the Sinestro Corps comics and reading all these Yellow Lanterns doing such horrific things to other people sometimes opposing Lanterns. I would have loved it if they had taken it further and given all the other Corps comics, I'd have loved to know more about the Star Saphires and Indigo Tribe.

Tbh before there were so many Lantern Corps. I was barely interested in the Green Lantern mythos. But the addition of these Corps. really got me into it. Since then I watched the animated movies and show several times and followed these storylines. Thank you for that. EDIT: What's the background music?

LOVE THIS! What if the Mandarin had a ring from each color in the spectrum? That would really put Tony through the ringer! Couldn't resist. Does anyone else remember Iron Lantern from Amalgam? It was similar to this but not nearly as cool.
Funny enough both characters were mashed together during the Marvel vs DC era to create the Amalgam comics character Iron Lantern. And on other characters using a lantern ring, I had this constant debate on if Spider-Man would use the green ring or the blue ring. After several threads and comments over with other people I think that the one that best fits Spidey is the green lantern ring just by the sheer amount of will power he had to have on each crucial moment of his live to overcome all of the hurt and terror in his life. I do think that all characters go over seveal arcs that make them have a specific emotion manifested, but there will always be one that stands out.
As comic fans we owe Unc a hella lot that we can't even begin to pay back THANK YOU UNC E. You got me thru many a dark day as a teen and have been with me since, 26 years later im still a huge fan !

IDW did a Star Trek/Green Lantern crossover not too long ago.
Amalgam Universe in the 90s combined Hal Jordan and Tony Stark. Hal Stark the Iron Lantern.
Mandarin and Sinestro were also combined.

This pretty much happened in the Amalgam comics crossover. I believe he was called Iron Lantern.
