In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity...

Missed opportunity to titled this "Anger management"

1:10:40 someone tell me why the devs code the spear and shield relic to have a 80% chance to be white beast? 😂😂
dunno abt the 80%, but Baalor once explained that the statue used to be a boss relic, so the devs did not need to put that to the list of exclusions of relics spear and shield cannot give. After removing it as a boss relic, the devs apparently forgot to add statue to the exclusion list, so the statue can appear.

Isn't kunai with double anger really good? I'm confused by the sentiments of "this kunai is worthless" cause it looked like a monster pick to me.

Okay so the other comment was beyond pathetic.
I amnot at that point in the video but kunai and shuriken become less valuable at asc20 in general. So experienced playersknow that to make kunai work you need to have cards that make use of it. Silent is one of the best examples due to literal having dodge and roll and lots of card draw + cards played in general.
In fact the advantages that silent has is a great showcase of why kunai falls off at high ascension. You often don't have the time anymore to rely on the relatively slow scaling of kunai.
Your surprise is reasonable though. When i started playing (before ascension was a thing) kunai was almost an auto win
Just got to that part of the run. So to explain what is going on in this run briefly (on mobile so lazy):
This deck can be described as a quick or one cycle deck. It uses corruption for immense power each turn and then relies on Ironclads strong attack cards to close out fights.
So in this scenario kunai would be a waste of money because it goes against what the deck is currently doing. Remember how i said kunai is super strong on silent in tje other comment? Yeah that best case scenario is essentially a deck thats opposite of this deck.
TL:DR: kunai is great for decks that are like a car you want to drive for hundreds of miles. This deck is more like a rocket.
Final correction: kunai was seriously considered but since it wouldn't stsrt helping until act 3 it was ignored.
So what i said is still mostly true but Baalelord did consider pivoting the deck.

Won my 6th A20 Ironclad run last night and upgrading Evolve ended up being the glue.
Stars of the Show:
-Snecko Eye + Last relic Bag of Prep 😈
-PowerThrough + MedKit + 2x Feel No Pain(upgraded both)
-Dark Embrace x2 (duped at shrine)
-Late Corruption and last fight Demon Form. 😮💨
With Evolve+, even playing Power Through after Corruption, it creates two cards that give additional draw AND 8 block each with Med Kit +FNP.
First time I truly annihilated the heart. Turning slimes, burns, dazed, wounds, etc into additional draw and block felt amazing.
If baalor has tuaght me anything in 90% of his recent runs, it is, “See a corruption take a corruption”
That heart fight was so close holy

ye it does proc but then u end up with a deck full of angers with 20 dex but it ends up being underwhelming since all you draw is angers and no block cards... so ye it is kinda weak
@@email2989 True. He spams Anger anyway in some fights, but yeah Kunai probably.wouldnt have had a huge impact in those cases. Probably my own bias, Kunai is a win condition in many decks.

corruption makes the block cards disappear by the time you get enough angers
Even on an a12 re-ladder with Silent, I had a run that struggled to scale quickly enough in fights using kunai and a couple blade dances. Probably some misplays on my part but it's not an instant solve

55:36 He's normally much more careful on this part to not accidentally get curses and other unwanted cards. That shame could have been a second decay. Is the deck so status focused that he can afford to pick up a decay and not mind?
He had omamori and I think was past the point to get 999 gold
Does anyone know if he has plans to play the other characters? Loving Ironclad runs but looking forward to see some Silent and Defect as well
lately, baalor has been attempting to achieve a winstreak of 20 on clad, so runs on other characters will be few and far between

Baalor is currently challenging himself to try and reach a 20 streak on every character, starting with Ironclad. He's planning to continue with Ironclad until he gets at least a 15+ streak, so the majority of runs will still be clad for now - He does play other characters for fun still though, so it won't be all clad.
Smile is way better than Lasik if you can get that instead
Why was it a 'no' to the kunai in an Anger deck?
Pretty sure the strength increase doesn’t actually pan out to much, it’s essentially only 1 strength per turn without any cards like pummel etc. to really capitalise on it… I.e. it’s too slow-burn with this deck…? I agree, looks like a good pick. But I also agree Baalorlord is a much better player than me 😅❤it’s like trying to question the logic behind an AI’s advanced chess moves sometimes eh o_0”
@@mikeythearchangel True lol, I tell myself that every time i double-take on one of his decisions. Kunai is dexterity and might have helped idk
@@OfficialJab it does seem a bit strange he picked smooth stone later but I think he was just worried about champ and if kunai would help against champ. plus corruption means you'll run out of block (or the fight) by the time angers start populating.
I think he would've picked it had he known he was going to get barricade. but it also may have been a win-more, not sure.
