  • This video chronicles my install of a set of 'smooth' intake tubes and K&M aftermarket performance filters for my 2017 Gen 2 Audi R8 Spyder. In this case the tubes were from STM Tuned but this video can help anyone that wishes to install aftermarket intake tubes or filters in a Gen2 Audi R8. This install also applies to the Reid Intakes which are very similar to the STM Tuned tubes.
As promised in the video, here are the links and part numbers for the airbox screws (and rubber washers), intake tubes and filters:
Gen 2 Audi Air-box screws (T20): Audi part number 48278843
Gen 2 Audi Air-box screw rubber washer: Audi part number 48278843A
STM Tuned Intake Kit (Tubes + K&N Filters): stmtuned.com/collections/2017...
An alternative intake of similar design: lamborfuckinghini.com/collect...

    Any noise differences?

I have an aftermarket exhaust which is a bit louder than stock so the relative noise difference is almost not noticeable. People that have installed these on R8s with stock exhaust do notice a bit more of a throaty sound when accelerating.

I dropped a screw there - any danger to the engine in that area? It fell close to where the right exhaust is ...appreciate any insights

I've done that as well on my R8. Fortunately there isn't an easy way for the screw to get tangled with moving parts in that area. So you should be fine. Replacement screws come in a set of two for about $14. I have the audi part# in the description. And fyi the screws do not come with the rubber washer. You can buy those from audi as well or go to the hardware store (that's what I did)..
