The sticky points for me to consider the R/T version is the sticker price and the Premium gas. To me, when buying hybrid is to save few bucks on gas, make it a no sens in a hybrid model. I know the Premium give extra performances which is the Dodge DNA. The GLH version is for those expecting the performance, not for family day-to-day commute.
41st thumbs-up! You have a really nice Fiat there, Lauren. 😂 Definitely not a Dodge Journey. I would hope that the Journey was a better wagon. Way too pricey, especially for a re badged Fiat
I drove this unreasonably tight interior vehicle with tons of road sound, bad gas mileage for a PHEV and Hyundia level of interior. The interior was good, but compared to a Lincoln Corsair PHEV or Volvo XC40 at the same price point it fell well short. Even the bragged about speed is slower than the Toyota Rav4 PHEV that is better in almost every way. However the real challenge for small luxury SUVs is are they better than a Tesla Model Y long range selling for about $42,000 after federal incentives. The Hornet RT Plus with the active safety package is about $52,000 and about 45K after federal incentives. at 45k it trails all of its competitors by a wide margin. At 35k I would buy it for the fun factor.
@@MarkM58 No insult, Hyundai's are great. they provide a great value for the price point. What I was trying to say is that a $50,000 car should have a better interior than a $30,000 car. the Hornet has an interior that feels less than $50,000.
The Hornet is built in Italy, If you are talking about USA market, they do NOT qualify for the incentive. There are ways to loop it with Lease Buyout agreement, but it could get complicated if the dealer or the leaser won't work with you to get it down to the price you want. I drove the Hornet both the GT and RT, I like it. But at that price point, this car isn't a Lexus. And I think most people would agree Toyota is still the King of Hybrid.
No competition for Kona Hybrid and Kona N ,which run on regular gas and have much better reliability and warranties. 👍🤗 Keep those great reviews coming, although your Canadian competition beat you to the 2024 Kona Limited review......🧐🙄
What this car really needs is more size and an 800+hp/800+lb ft stonkin 8.0 liter Honkin mad real street HEMI. tapped, roller rockers , 3 piece titanium valve springs with sodium filled valves, 6 bolt mains, fully forged crankshaft and magnafluxed pistons that hang onto those mean light forged rods that bolt to that cross drilled crank. An HD Mopar timing chain, D.I. and P.I., a 40 gallon tank, 11.5 compression ratio, double sealed rings, dual oil pick up in a dry sump, fat mid range tq aiding headers, hi volume fuel pump, and all the goodies that make a Mopar ELEPHANT a REAL performance engine. Then give me a call.

Why no complaint about the ..unhidden wiper as usual !!!
lol at this price point'm not shocked - lol
As always, awesome review by the REAL Car Coach, Lauren.
Thanks so much!
I like this lady as she knows the auto industry! I would buy a car from her!
Another great review ! Is there much hard plastic on the door panels ?
Yes its a mix of soft and hard plastic
Hard plastic is a very common material used by mostly all of the manufacturers
E-save will retain battery power and use gas only. Saving battery use for a later time.

Don’t insult Hyundai. Many are very nice.
