Kenny is one of those guys that has a piece of SRV at his fingertips. Kenny, Eric Gales, Josh Smith, Joe Bonamassa all have bits of the man at their fingertips. Man, SRV should be here to see who he's inspired

I'm 53. Finally got a chance to see Van Halen in 2015-even though they've been my favorite band since 1980.... Somehow, i didn't realize that Kenny Wayne Shepherd was the 'opening act' in Irvine, CA that night. I came away from that show more impressed by KWS than by my first VH live experience. No slight on Van Halen or Eddie-love, love, love, forever. But, after 15-20 years of seeing 12-year olds playing Eruption on youtube, and learning most of those amazing songs myself from video tutorials, that aspect of the 'magic and wonder' has dissipated. But, KWS was a bombshell. I have known of him, and have heard/seen him on video before, but seeing him live was a big, big thing. Stunning. A killer player and showman. // 200 guitars, but 'not a collector?' Whoa.

Kenny Wayne shepherd is one of my favorite “characters” of blues and rock. Not only is he a great guitarist and writes great music, but he’s also an extremely humble and genuinely cool guy, and he’s massively into cars as well, like myself😂

  • @jbharrop

KWS is such a humble man and has a care about the music's legacy which is demonstrated on his collaboration album (with the likes of B. B. King, Buddy Flett, Pinetop Perkins et al), 10 Days Out: Blues from the Back roads, and remains one of my favourites to this day.

I mean he kind of is/was for a large portion of the 90’s/2000’s. Blue on black was a huge song back then and is still played on radio stations here and there today. Albeit as music changed he lost that a fair bit, he’s still pretty well known by a ton of blues and rock fans

We need a 'The Captain meets Jesse Davey'. Back when I was living in the UK in the early to mid 90's I used to follow The Hoax around the country and Jesse's playing never failed to amaze and inspire (and deafen me). I saw Jesse and his band open for KWS, what a great gig. I saw Chris Layton wondering around in the crowd which was a trip. I was speaking to Jesse after the gig and he had fun, from memory he lent him a wah or a TS for the show as something had happened to Kenny's. Thanks for this one and regards from New Zealand

I am guessing there would be several, because one can't cover that all. And I am sure there is a "History of Fender" and history of Mesa Boogie" etc. But that would be little too specific on one brand. Is there a good, well written "amps" book and "guitars" book? Google can show me, for sure, but which one is good si hard to tell.
