I can not say this on a professional level, but as a semi-pro local goalkeeper we always played best home for a few resons. 1. Home teams provided the match balls. (different bounce, hardness, weight, etc) 2. Pitch quality (astroturf type, natural grass) 3. Pitch shape (length-wide) We had a very short and narrow pitch, making long through balls difficult, but shot from range easier, and throw ins dangerous. Other teams used some time to adapt their tactic for that. 4. Shorter travel distance (we had some far away matches (5 hours driving) and we always played worse the first 30 minutes at those.) 5. Less nerves (everything was familiar) 6. Knowing we had a advantage, (psychologically) The other teams often played with lower pressure, especially at the start. We dominated more than we often should.
