Excellent video! We visited Eleanor downs last year , landed at the same airstrip and stayed overnight at the soldier settler cottage, what an amazing experience! Cannot recommend it highly enough. Nathan and his family were away in Adelaide so we didn’t get to meet them nevertheless their hospitality was top notch and they made sure we had a great stay and couldn’t have been more helpful. We missed out on the burger last time so would have to go back their again to get the $100 burger!

I know right! Eleanor Downs and Johnson Airstrip have cars available, with Eleanor having the accomodation too. They love aviation on the Island!

The crew-car alone is definitely lighting some embers as to how I can rationalise a flight down all the way to Eleanor Downs from North Queensland 😂 Definitely worlds away from the clapped out 80's Camira (if anything at all) that we get up here 🥲

Thanks! The owner did a great job, excellent install by the avionics shop, all integrated beautifully - its a Garmin G3X and Garmin 750 GPS

@@Truebluexpat Good idea! The only thing I'd change is that I'd throw a GTN 650 in as a backup to the 750. Bit limited for IFR alternates with just a single GPS! Otherwise couldn't fault it. Which aircraft have you got?
