El Bimbo itself is a song from the 70s performed by a French band called Bimbo Jet with its own accompanying dance fittingly called El Bimbo. Loosely translated, Ang Huling El Bimbo in English means "The Last Dance." Troy Laureta (keyboards) is a Filipino-American award winning producer/musician/musical director who did stints as musical director for David Foster and Ariana Grande. He has worked with other well-known American and international artists.
I was thinking her cover wouldn't be that great compared to the original song writers, rock band eraserheads. But she did an awesome job. This song BTW is from the perspective of a guy talking about this girl he loves when he was younger and how he and the girl would practice dancing the el bimbo all day. Many years passed and they eventually lost touch. He talks about how he heard she ended up as a single mother working as a dishwasher. And one night, she died after getting hit by a car while she was walking home from work. He then says that all of his hopes and dreams just disappeared (because he still loved her) and that only in his dreams will he be able to dance again with her. Pretty sad story
